About AfterQuery

AfterQuery is an applied research lab curating data solutions for foundation model development. We serve every frontier AI lab with the mission of delivering the best data to power the best models. In doing so, we can make expertise that once took a lifetime to build available to anyone who needs it.

Our customers are the ones building the foundation models themselves and our work sits directly in the loop of how those systems improve. This is a rare opportunity to join a company at a defining moment in AI. Forbes reported that we could be YC's fastest unicorn, reportedly raising at a $3.2 billion valuation. We're based in San Francisco and backed by leading investors including Altos Ventures, BoxGroup, and Y Combinator and angels from Google DeepMind, OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta Superintelligence Labs, and Microsoft AI.

Why Apply

Massive Opportunity: Forbes reported that we could be YC's fastest unicorn, reportedly raising at a $3.2 billion valuation, and we're not slowing down.

Founding Impact: You will own and architect core infrastructure systems that power our platform from the ground up.

Equity & Growth: Competitive salary and meaningful equity. As we scale, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the engineering organization and lead major technical initiatives.

Strong Team: Our founding team has experience from Citadel Securities, Meta, Google, Silver Lake, and Morgan Stanley — work alongside world-class engineers and researchers.

Overview

As Head of Growth, you will own one of the company's most important strategic assets: the supply side of our marketplace. The systems you build will directly determine our ability to serve customers, launch new products, enter new domains, and maintain our quality advantage.

This role sits at the intersection of growth, product, engineering, recruiting, and operations. Early on, you'll develop the playbooks yourself. Over time, you'll partner closely with engineering to transform those playbooks into software, automation, and scalable systems, all towards the end of creating a repeatable engine that can identify, recruit, and retain exceptional talent globally.

Develop scalable acquisition channels for highly qualified talent

Build systems for identifying and targeting professionals in specific industries, geographies, and specialties

Optimize funnel performance from sourcing through activation

Measure expert satisfaction and lead the team in ensuring experts are unblocked and satisfied with their experience

Build Growth Infrastructure

Partner closely with Engineering to build internal growth tools and automation systems

Design scalable workflows for sourcing, outreach, qualification, onboarding, and engagement

Develop experimentation frameworks and growth loops

Create data systems that improve acquisition efficiency over time

Reduce manual operational effort through automation and productization

Marketplace Operations

Forecast supply needs based on customer and project demand

Ensure the right experts are available at the right time and quality level

Build a culture of urgency, ownership, and continuous improvement

Cross-Functional Leadership

Partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize systems that improve scalability

Work with Operations to improve contributor quality and retention

Collaborate with Leadership on company growth strategy and expansion into new expert categories

Required Qualifications

6+ years of experience in growth, recruiting, talent marketplace, operations, or related functions; direct experience building talent marketplaces, labor marketplaces, or expert networks is preferred

Experience partnering deeply with engineering and product teams; high technical aptitude understanding

Experience building and scaling systems rather than simply executing processes

Strong analytical and operational capabilities

Demonstrated ability to hire and lead high-performing teams

Exceptional execution velocity and willingness to operate hands-on

Strong ownership mentality and bias toward action
