We're looking for a qualified and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and dedicated team at Little Hadham on a part-time basis to provide maternity cover from March 2027 to January 2028.

This opportunity includes responsibility as acting Head Nurse, providing clinical leadership to the nursing team and helping to ensure we deliver exceptional care to our clients and patients while maintaining the highest standards of clinical, regulatory, operational, and practice compliance.

About Us

Little Hadham is a thriving three-vet practice, supported by a team of two RVNs and three SVNs. Open Monday to Saturday, we see a varied and interesting caseload, including routine surgical procedures, dentals, lump removals, heart scans, and much more.

Our practice is equipped with excellent facilities, including:

  • Digital in-house X-ray

  • In-house haematology

This allows us to provide a high standard of patient care while supporting the professional development of our team.

The Role

As an RVN and Acting Head Nurse, you'll enjoy a varied role encompassing all aspects of first-opinion practice nursing. You'll carry out daily nurse consultations, assist with multiple surgical procedures, and support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

You'll also play a key role in leading and developing the nursing team, ensuring standards of patient care, clinical governance, and operational excellence are consistently maintained.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Theatre and surgical support
  • Inpatient care
  • Clinical coaching and nursing team leadership
  • Reception support when required
  • Practice administration and compliance tasks
  • Maintaining high clinical and operational standards
  • Working Pattern

This is a part-time role working Wednesday to Friday each week.

In addition, you will participate in:

  • 1 in 6 weekend rota at our Enfield 24-Hour Hospital
  • Alternating early shifts (07:40-17:10) and late shifts (11:00-20:30)
  • Weekend shifts on either Saturday or Sunday
  • One Bank Holiday per year
  • A minimum of one week of on-call cover for the Enfield 24-Hour Hospital

About You

We're looking for a proactive, confident, and organised RVN who enjoys both clinical nursing and supporting colleagues. Previous leadership experience would be advantageous, although support will be provided for the right candidate looking to develop into a leadership role.

You'll thrive in a varied environment, enjoy working collaboratively within a close-knit team, and be passionate about delivering outstanding patient and client care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills while becoming an integral part of a supportive and welcoming practice and operational standards and compliance.

Your career means more than a rota and a job title, that’s why we offer:

Health and wellbeing

  • Health Cash Plan from day one
  • 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support
  • Life Assurance 3 x salary

Annual leave

  • 5 weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising with length of service
  • Extra ‘Day for You’, a paid day off just for you

Learning and development

  • £625 CPD allowance plus 2 days’ paid leave per year
  • Access to Clinical Communities, internal CPD and our 24-hour hospitals
