Summary

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare, Provider Communications Group (PCG).. As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will lead administrative operations, communications, budgets, HR activities, projects, and policy reviews.

Duties

  • Leading complex Medicare provider communications projects, developing outreach strategies, and translating technical policy into accurate, plain-language content.
  • Advising senior leadership on communication strategies, sensitive administrative matters, personnel issues, organizational initiatives, and operational priorities.
  • Directing administrative operations, including budgets, training, correspondence, clearances, travel, records, office services, and coordination with other components.
  • Serving as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating cross-component projects, resolving communication issues, and representing leadership priorities.
  • Evaluating policies, processes, procedures, and operational issues, conducting management analyses, and implementing improvements to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1. Leading Medicare or healthcare communications and translating technical policy into plain language; 2. Advising senior leadership on sensitive operational, policy, or personnel matters; 3. Managing budgets, administrative processes, and cross-functional initiatives; and 4. Evaluating policies and implementing improvements that increase organizational effectiveness. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
