You as a HSE Manager:

  • Lead site safety programs across earthworks, underground utilities, pipeline, and heavy civil construction projects.
  • Be responsible for site orientations, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Monitor employees, subcontractors, and equipment operators to ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate hazards related to excavation, trenching, underground utilities, heavy equipment operations, and public interface work.
  • Organize and deliver safety training programs, including WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, Fall Protection, Confined Space, PPE, and First Aid/CPR.
  • Support project teams in maintaining zero-harm culture through coaching, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct site audits, participate in safety meetings, and ensure all safety documentation is completed and maintained.

Is this the right role for you?

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of health and safety experience supporting heavy civil, earthworks, underground utility, pipeline, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Must have or be working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation, COR requirements, and civil construction safety practices.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, field-level risk assessments, and developing corrective actions.
  • You have the ability to influence, coach, and engage frontline workers, supervisors, and subcontractors in promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with field crews and project stakeholders.
