About the role

Build a safer workplace where prevention starts on the floor.

Join Resmed as Health and Safety Manager in Johor Bahru, leading health and safety across our Malaysia Headgear operations. You will have the opportunity to shape how safety is embedded into everyday operations, from risk management and ergonomics to incident prevention, contractor safety and emergency preparedness. Working closely with leaders and frontline teams, you will turn regulatory requirements and safety data into practical actions that reduce risk and prevent injuries.

What You'll Do

  • Lead health and safety compliance, ensuring operations meet DOSH and BOMBA requirements, statutory obligations and Resmed standards.
  • Embed safety into daily operations through tier meetings, shift routines, Gemba, audits and incident reviews, strengthening leader accountability and encouraging early reporting of hazards and discomfort.
  • Oversee hazard identification and risk assessments across plant, equipment, traffic, chemicals, contractors, maintenance and emergency scenarios, prioritising controls according to the hierarchy of controls.
  • Drive ergonomic risk mapping and hazardous manual task controls, partnering with Engineering and Production to improve tasks, tools, fixtures, workstations and layouts before discomfort becomes injury.
  • Govern incident reporting and investigations across injuries, first aid cases, near hits, hazards and discomfort trends, ensuring strong root cause analysis, clear corrective action ownership and effective control verification.
  • Manage injury intervention and return-to-work pathways with medical providers, insurers, Production, Supervisors and People team partners, supporting safe modified duties and informed decisions based on injury trends.
  • Strengthen contractor and project safety through effective induction, licences, permits, SWMS and HIRAC requirements, while embedding safety into equipment, automation, chemical, NPI, layout and capital project changes.
  • Build health and safety capability by maintaining induction and refresher training, defining safety-critical competencies with departments and supporting consultation through safety committees and forums.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and drills, contribute to crisis management and help address psychosocial risks including fatigue, conflict and psychological hazards.
  • Use dashboards, audits, inspections and leading and lagging indicators to identify emerging risks, provide clear escalation and give leadership transparent insight into safety performance.
  • Maintain Malaysia's procedures and work instructions within the Health and Safety Management System, aligning them with Resmed's strategic objectives.
  • Partner with regulatory authorities on licences, statutory documentation and reporting, while monitoring regulatory updates and supporting leadership due diligence.

What You Bring

  • A relevant qualification in health and safety, safety, engineering, ergonomics, occupational health or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Approximately 8–12 years of hands-on health and safety experience within manufacturing, warehousing, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, FMCG or comparable operational environments.
  • Registration as a DOSH Green Book holder and the ability to be the registered Safety Officer for the site.
  • Working knowledge of DOSH, BOMBA and DOE requirements, applicable Codes of Practice, notifiable incidents and consultation requirements.
  • Proven experience in risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident investigations, corrective action management and verification of controls.
  • Practical understanding of hazardous manual tasks, ergonomics, traffic and warehouse risks, contractor controls, emergency preparedness and plant safety.
  • The confidence to maintain a strong floor presence across shifts, coaching leaders and frontline teams while keeping operational accountability where it belongs.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, data analysis and practical problem-solving capabilities.

Nice to Have

  • ISO 45001 internal auditor or lead auditor training.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing, GMP, clean manufacturing or medical devices.
  • Exposure to manual task assessment, Perform, human factors, musculoskeletal injury prevention, ergonomic risk mapping, hazardous chemicals, dangerous goods, environmental or waste interfaces, or safety-by-design within capital projects.

What Sets You Apart

  • Prevention Mindset — You look for early warning signs, challenge risks before they become incidents and focus attention where intervention can have the greatest impact.
  • Visible Leadership — You stay close to day-to-day operations, listen to frontline teams and make safety a practical part of how work gets done.
  • Constructive Influence — You coach and challenge leaders without taking ownership away from them, helping safety accountability become part of everyday leadership.
  • Practical Judgement — You balance regulatory requirements with operational realities and turn complex risks into clear, workable actions.
  • Continuous Improvement — You use incidents, observations, discomfort reports and operational data as opportunities to strengthen controls and prevent recurrence.
