St Edmunds Hospital in Bury St Edmunds is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for an Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Pre Assessment department.

This is a part time role for 30 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
  • Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
  • Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
  • Report any concerns about a patient's condition or wellbeing promptly to the Registered Nurse or relevant clinician.
  • Record care provided and patient observations clearly and accurately on appropriate documentation systems or electronic health records.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to GDPR and data protection policies.
  • Follow all infection prevention and control procedures, including hand hygiene, PPE use, and environmental cleaning standards.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
