Finning is urgently hiring multiple Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics to support our customer in the Elk Valley. This role offers an opportunity to work on ultra-class Caterpillar mining equipment for the biggest players in the industry.

Job Description:

Take on a role where your skills and passion keep the heavy iron moving. As a Field Heavy Duty Mechanic, you’ll troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of Caterpillar Mining Equipment.

Your work will include:

• •Trouble shoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment in a field environment
• •Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
• •Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• •Completing required paperwork and maintaining clear customer communication

Specific Skills & Experience

• •Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
• •Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr)
• •3+ years experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, with demonstrated time in the field
• •Strong skills in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems
• •Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be beneficial
• •Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience
• •Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset

Important Details:

• •4x4, 7x7, 14x14 Continuous Shifts Available based in Elkford, BC,
• •$300/month LOA (Commuters/non-residents (8+ km away) who provide own housing)
• •A condition of employment includes the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable

Union Membership: This is a unionized position. Union dues will be deducted from your pay upon hire. Terms of employment are governed by a collective agreement.
