Summary

The High Risk Trader Onboarding Analyst is an operational investigator within the Onboarding & Identity Operations team, responsible for reviewing elevated-risk Identity Verification (IDV) exceptions, performing Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and conducting thorough financial crime screenings across global trader accounts.

Serving as the primary operational intake for elevated risk profiles, this role investigates Tier-2 escalations from front-line onboarding teams that exceed standard verification logic, such as suspected synthetic identity indicators, document tampering, multi-jurisdictional tax discrepancies (W-8/W-9), and potential sanctions hits. Operating within established operating frameworks and investigative templates, you will clear routine screening alerts, assemble structured case packages for Enforcement review, and escalate novel fraud vectors or complex corporate entities to Senior High Risk Analysts.

Key Responsibilities

IDV & CIP Escalation Review: Review and disposition Tier-2 identity verification escalations referred by front-line onboarding analysts. Investigate flagged accounts exhibiting synthetic identity traits, digital document manipulation, device/IP anomalies, or unverified registration data against established risk rubrics.

Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) Execution: Perform structured EDD investigations on elevated-risk traders. Collect, review, and evaluate baseline financial documentation to verify identity legitimacy and account eligibility.

Investigative Case Packaging: Compile clear, evidence-based case files summarizing identity telemetry, document discrepancies, and risk rationales. Submit structured findings to Senior Analysts, Compliance, and Enforcement teams for account restrictions, suspensions, or closure.

Triage & Senior Escalation: Identify high-complexity scenarios, such as organized multi-account fraud rings, highly layered entity structures, or emergent attack vectors, and route them with complete preliminary findings to the Senior High Risk Trader Onboarding Analyst.

Audit Trail & Record Governance: Maintain precise, audit-ready case notes and rationale logs in internal case management systems to satisfy QA benchmarks and internal compliance audits.

Workflow Feedback: Identify recurring friction points, false-positive trends, and operational bottlenecks within EDD workflows, providing actionable data to Senior Analysts to help refine templates and SOPs.

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies

Experience: 1-3 years of direct operational experience in AML/KYC, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), financial crime investigations, or fraud operations within fintech, digital brokerage, or a regulated financial institution.

IDV & Risk Tool Fluency: Working knowledge of modern identity verification platforms (e.g., Persona, Jumio, Veriff, Onfido) and screening databases (e.g., LexisNexis, World-Check, ComplyAdvantage).

Investigative Rationale & Writing: Strong written communication skills, with a track record of authoring concise, objective, and defensible case narratives.

Adherence to Established Frameworks: High operational discipline and sound judgment to evaluate qualitative risk signals within structured SOPs, knowing precisely when and how to escalate edge cases.

Attention to Detail: Acute visual and analytical attention to detail to spot minor indicators of document alteration, metadata inconsistencies, and synthetic identity markers.

Asynchronous Collaboration: Ability to manage high-priority investigation queues independently and partner cross-functionally across remote compliance, legal, and operational teams.

Clear Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to accurately document case notes, clearly summarize issues for escalation, and collaborate effectively within a remote team environment.
