In this role, you will design and develop scalable and maintainable software solutions for distributed systems, work in a Linux-based development environment, and contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from implementation and testing to debugging and issue resolution.
You will work closely with cross-functional and global engineering teams and support the investigation and resolution of customer-reported software issues when required. This role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys both software development and hands-on problem solving in a complex technical environment.
This position is based at the ASML Hsinchu office and will be offered as a Taiwan Local Hire role, subject to Taiwan Local Hire terms and conditions.
Role and responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C++ and object-oriented programming principles.
Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and reusable software components for distributed systems.
Develop and maintain software in Linux-based environments, primarily at the user-space application level.
Design and implement distributed system components and communication mechanisms, including inter-process communication (IPC).
Take ownership of software development from implementation through developer-level verification before delivery to Software Quality Assurance (SQA).
Develop and execute unit, integration, system, and regression testing to ensure software quality and release readiness.
Investigate customer-reported software issues by reproducing problems, performing testing and debugging, identifying root causes, implementing fixes, and validating solutions before delivery.
Apply software engineering best practices, including object-oriented design, modular design, code reviews, maintainable architecture, and test automation.
Perform software troubleshooting and root cause analysis in complex software and distributed system environments.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions and resolve technical issues.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
4–9 years of software development experience.
Strong software development fundamentals with hands-on experience in C++ and object-oriented programming.
Hands-on experience in software debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Experience developing software applications in Windows or Linux environments, with the willingness and ability to work in a Linux-based development environment.
Experience with software testing, including unit testing, integration testing, or system-level testing.
Good understanding of software engineering principles, software architecture, and maintainable software design.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to independently investigate technical issues.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical topics and issues.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing or developing distributed systems and distributed software architectures.
Knowledge of multi-threaded programming, process management, and inter-process communication (IPC), such as sockets, message queues, or shared memory.
Experience with Linux user-space application development, performance analysis, or troubleshooting.
Experience with automated testing and continuous software validation practices.
Experience handling customer-reported software issues or supporting field escalations.
Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Experience in semiconductor equipment, semiconductor manufacturing, consumer electronics, or other complex software-intensive industries.
Additional Information

Hybrid working model with up to two remote-working days per week, subject to business needs and company policy.
Occasional early-morning or evening meetings may be required to support collaboration with global teams.
