Position Overview
The Hospitalist Physician provides direct inpatient care for acutely ill, hospitalized adult non‑surgical patients. This role includes managing complex medical conditions, providing internal medicine consults, and leading interdisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality, efficient care from admission through discharge.
Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive inpatient medical care
Manage patients with multiple comorbidities
Provide internal medicine consults as requested
Participate in critical care management as appropriate
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support continuity of care
Uphold the highest ethical and professional standards
Support Sentara’s mission, vision, and values
Qualifications
Residency‑trained in Internal Medicine or related specialty
Board Certified or Board Eligible
Board Certification required within 4 years of eligibility

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $272,688.00 - $373,796.80 annually. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Note: If an annual salary is posted, it is based on a full-time colleague working 2,080 hours annually.
