Description
About the Opportunity: A Legacy Launch with MML Hospitality
Nestled at the base of Aspen Mountain, the iconic Mountain Chalet Aspen is preparing to throw open its doors once again. Launching across October and November 2027 , we are completely revitalizing this 1954 landmark through a massive $100M modern luxury transformation.
Operated by MML Hospitality —acclaimed for creating some of the country’s most vibrant, design-forward restaurants, retail spaces, and boutique hotels (like New Orleans’ Hotel Saint Vincent and New York's Nine Orchard )—this project blends historic alpine soul with MML’s signature elevated style.
As the General Manager , you will be the captain of this monumental launch. Supported by MML’s robust home-office resources, you will own the pre-opening strategy, financial performance, brand delivery, and ongoing operations of what is destined to become Aspen’s premier luxury boutique destination. This is a career-defining opportunity for a visionary leader to introduce a new standard of hospitality to one of the world's most competitive luxury markets.
The Property: Blending Heritage with MML’s Signature Style

- Elevated Accommodations: 59 beautifully redesigned, luxury guest rooms and suites.
- Premium Amenities: A brand-new luxury wellness spa, kids club, and outdoor thermal pool spaces.
- MML Culinary Destinations: Multiple brand-new, public-facing food and beverage concepts—including a traditional alpine stube, a premier grill, a Japanese restaurant, and a 5th-floor cocktail lounge destined to become the heartbeat of Aspen’s après-ski scene.
- An Unbeatable Location: Situated right in the heart of downtown Aspen, steps from the Silver Queen Gondola.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Oversee the successful launch and daily operations of the property, balancing long-term vision with fast-paced daily demands.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, forecasting, labor costs, and revenue strategies to achieve high financial performance.
- Team Development: Lead recruitment, training, and mentoring for the management team and staff to build a high-performing, service-oriented culture.
- Brand Integrity: Ensure all service standards, culinary offerings, and guest interactions reflect the MML brand and "The Chalet" concept.
- Community Relations: Act as a brand ambassador within the Aspen market, building relationships with local property managers, authorities (APCHA), and community stakeholders.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain regulatory compliance, health and safety standards, and facilities maintenance.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of leadership in luxury hospitality, with significant experience in high-volume mountain resort environments.
- Pre-Opening Expertise: Proven track record of leading hotel or restaurant openings, including staffing and SOP development.
- Leadership: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead diverse teams under pressure.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or Business preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial reporting, P&L analysis, and hospitality management software (e.g., Restaurant 365, POS systems).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the property for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to handle tools or controls.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
