  • Sweep and mop floors (both dry and wet), including stairwells, entrances, and other flooring areas.
  • Remove waste, including trash and recycling, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Clean, sanitize and restock restrooms and common-use facilities (sinks, toilets, showers, mirrors, stalls, and receptacles). Apply knowledge of sanitation practices and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Shampoo and extract carpets and upholstered surfaces as needed.
  • Perform hard floor care, including buffing and maintenance of floor finishes.
  • Clean windows, entryways, and other glass surfaces.
  • Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as painting, replacing light bulbs, carpet tiles, and ceiling tiles.
  • Identify and report maintenance, health, or sanitation deficiencies.
  • Support inventory control and maintain organized storage/cleaning closets.
  • Respond to emergencies or urgent situations (e.g., water leaks, biohazard cleanup, limited air quality issues).
  • Stand for up to eight hours and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. with or without an accommodation.
  • Occasional schedule flexibility may be necessary to support university events, which may include weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications :

Completion of 9th grade.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 1+ year of previous work experience in an operational environment.
  • 1+ year of previous experience performing basic maintenance tasks in a commercial or residential setting (painting, light bulb replacement, and minor carpet or ceiling tile repairs, etc.)
  • Experience with small and large tools required for essential tasks (floor care equipment, mop/mop bucket, dust mop, broom, scrub pad, common maintenance tools, etc.)
  • Familiarity with work order related software.
  • Capacity to understand safety guidelines and use approved chemicals by Environmental Health & Safety to perform essential job functions.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with the ability to interact professionally with staff and respond to inquiries courteously.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to follow written and oral instructions effectively.
