JOB SUMMARY

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Workday professional who sees HR technology as more than a system to maintain. This is a consultative, solution-oriented role for someone who is curious about the business, thinks ahead, and proactively brings ideas for how Workday can better support our people, HR teams, and organization.

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on Workday expertise with eagerness to listen, challenge assumptions, evaluate options, and turn business needs into thoughtful solutions. You will work closely with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), HR Business Partners (HRBPs), HRIT, and other partners to understand what they are trying to accomplish and help determine the best path forward.

We are looking for someone who can bridge Workday leading practices with the realities of our business. That means bringing expertise and a point of view while remaining flexible, approaching challenges with a “how can we solve this?” mindset, and recognizing that the best solution is developed in partnership with the people who use it.

This role will have a primary focus on at least 2 of the following modules: Workday Advanced Compensation, Benefits, and HCM, while supporting broader Workday capabilities as business needs evolve. You should be comfortable moving between strategy and execution: advising stakeholders, identifying opportunities, recommending solutions, configuring Workday, solving complex issues, and continuously improving how we use the platform.

What Success Looks Like

You will thrive in this role if you:

Think like a consultant. You seek to understand the business need behind a request and recommend the best solution.

Bring solutions forward proactively. You stay curious about Workday capabilities, releases, emerging functionality, and leading practices and connect those opportunities to real business needs.

Balance leading practice with practicality. You understand how Workday is designed to operate while recognizing that solutions must work for our business, employees, and HR teams.

Build strong partnerships. You work alongside COEs, HRBPs, HRIS colleagues, HRIT, and other stakeholders as a trusted and engaged partner in business discussions and solution design.

Comfortable challenging and being challenged. You bring a thoughtful point of view, ask good questions, explore alternatives, and remain open to different perspectives.

Own outcomes. You see work through, from problem definition and solution design to configuration, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement.

Look beyond today’s request. You consider scalability, employee experience, data, downstream impacts, and future needs when designing solutions.

A team-first problem solver. You share knowledge, collaborate across functional teams, and focus on finding the right answer, remaining open to approaches that best support shared goals.

Key Responsibilities

Workday Functional Ownership & Optimization

Provide advanced functional expertise for Workday, with primary emphasis on at least two of the following modules: Advanced Compensation, Benefits, and HCM, and support across additional Workday areas as needed.

Proactively identify opportunities to improve how ONEOK uses Workday, including capabilities available through Workday releases and emerging functionality.

Evaluate Workday capabilities and leading practices and recommend solutions appropriate for ONEOK’s business environment.

Evaluate and help implement AI-enabled Workday capabilities aligned with business needs and strategy.

Consultative Partnership

Partner closely with HR COEs, HRBPs, HRIS, IT, and business stakeholders to understand needs and develop solutions.

Ask thoughtful questions to uncover the business problem, desired outcome, and downstream implications behind system requests.

Provide recommendations and alternatives to help stakeholders evaluate the best path forward.

Explain Workday capabilities, constraints, and options in business terms so stakeholders can make informed decisions.

Build trusted relationships across HR and the organization through responsiveness, expertise, collaboration, and sound judgment.

Coach COE partners on effective use of Workday and help build broader understanding of system capabilities.

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

Independently analyze and resolve complex Workday system and process issues.

Identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions that support long-term strategy.

Analyze patterns in break/fix activity, requests, and business processes to identify opportunities for broader improvement.

Balance immediate operational needs with longer-term optimization and scalability.

Maintain appropriate functional documentation, configuration documentation, and audit support.

Enhancements, Projects & Releases

Own Workday enhancements and initiatives from requirements through implementation.

Translate business requirements into functional specifications and system designs.

Lead functional testing for Workday releases, enhancements, and configuration changes.

Develop test scenarios and coordinate defect identification, resolution, and validation.

Partner with stakeholders to validate solutions and obtain acceptance prior to release.

Conduct post-implementation reviews and incorporate learnings into future solutions.

Follow established governance, change management, release management, and Records and Information Management protocols.

Integrations & Data

Support troubleshooting of Workday integrations, including EIBs and vendor inbound/outbound processes.

Partner with technical and data teams to identify and resolve integration and data-flow issues.

Consider upstream and downstream impacts when designing Workday solutions and process changes.
