About the Team
Indirect Tax Compliance owns DoorDash's state and local non-income tax obligations, including registrations, business tax filings, exemption certificate management, and use-tax self-assessment and payment, in every market where DoorDash operates. The team is part of Global Indirect Tax, alongside Tax Planning, Tax Technology, and Controversy, and keeps DoorDash's compliance accurate as new entities, business lines, and markets come online. This role sits in the use-tax function and runs certificate issuance, vendor tracking, and purchase monitoring day to day.
About the Role
We're hiring an Indirect Tax Compliance Analyst to own the day-to-day process behind DoorDash's use-tax certificates and monitoring for all US use-tax requirements. You will issue and track Multiple Points of Use (MPU) and direct-pay exemption certificates, review purchase requisitions for correct tax coding, check vendor invoices against certificates on file, and investigate transactions flagged for missing or incorrect tax. Certificates are drafted per contract and per purchase order and the work is deadline-sensitive, so you will own each workflow from start to finish while working US Pacific or Central business hours from Mexico. You will report into Senior Manager, Indirect Tax on our Indirect Tax Compliance team in our Global Indirect Tax organization.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
Draft, issue, and track MPU and direct-pay exemption certificates for vendors, customize documentation vendor by vendor when needed, and keep the certificate register current.
Work with Procurement and Sourcing so every new purchase order or contract is flagged for a certificate before first billing, and give vendors advance notice when needed.
Partner with Accounting's General Ledger team in the Coupa requisition review to confirm purchases are coded correctly before they become purchase orders.
Monitor vendor invoices against certificates on file, follow up with vendors, and work with Accounts Payable on invoice holds and corrections when tax is charged incorrectly.
Review anomaly-detection flags for transactions posted with no tax or the wrong tax, and act as the first contact for vendor questions on certificates.
We're excited about you because…
You have experience in tax compliance operations, accounts payable, or invoicing and contract operations, ideally with some exposure to US sales or use tax.
You can read contracts and purchase orders and pull out the data a tax certificate needs.
You have experience with NetSuite, Coupa, or a similar accounting or accounts payable system, and strong Excel or Google Sheets skills for tracking and reconciliation.
You pay close attention to detail and can manage a high volume of vendor-specific, deadline-driven documents with a consistent process.
You communicate clearly in written and spoken English with US-based stakeholders and vendors, and you can work independently during US Pacific or Central business hours.
