Our innovative solutions help move millions of products and pieces of luggage around the world every day. With a strong focus on technology, collaboration, and continuous improvement, we are committed to delivering reliable solutions for our customers while providing meaningful career opportunities for our employees.

Position Summary

The System Integration Engineer is responsible for ensuring that customer requirements are translated into effective, reliable, and cost-efficient system solutions. This role coordinates system integration planning, risk management, testing, and validation to ensure subsystems operate seamlessly within existing customer environments. Working closely with Solution Architects, Integration Engineers, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines, the engineer oversees project progress and ensures systems are thoroughly tested and handed over to customers according to specifications.

Overview

  • Translate customer requirements into functional designs while balancing standard solutions, customization, cost, lead time, and risk.
  • Develop and coordinate system integration plans, test plans, and test specifications with project engineering teams.
  • Manage integration testing, supplier verification and validation, system integration, and punch-list activities.
  • Ensure successful system handover through effective progress monitoring, resource planning, problem-solving, and collaboration with customers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Functional Design and Risk Management: Manage functional design activities to ensure customer requirements are translated into appropriate system solutions. Recommend standard solutions where possible, assess the impact of customized solutions, identify project risks, and develop mitigation strategies. Advise customers and stakeholders on the operational impact of proposed changes.
  • Integration Planning and Testing: Develop system integration plans, test plans, and test specifications in collaboration with Solution Architects and Integration Engineers. Coordinate the integration of subsystems into existing customer systems, manage testing activities, and ensure supplier components meet defined requirements through verification and validation.
  • Project Coordination and Execution: Monitor project progress and provide clear, concise status reports. Plan resources for the integration scope, coordinate with engineering disciplines and suppliers, manage punch lists, and oversee the completion of outstanding tasks to support project milestones.
  • System Validation and Customer Handover: Ensure systems are thoroughly tested and handed over according to specifications. Coordinate a smooth transition into customer operational processes, resolve or escalate technical issues, and maintain effective partnerships with customers, internal teams, and external suppliers.

Qualifications / Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or an equivalent qualification; alternatively, at least 3 years of experience implementing material-handling or industrial controls systems, or at least 1 year of experience with PLC applications.
  • Strong analytical, system-level thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize activities, research solutions, and balance quality, lead time, cost, and risk.
  • Experience with system integration processes, including requirements management, verification and validation, change management, and configuration management.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, a proactive and pragmatic approach, and the ability to build partnerships, motivate stakeholders, and take responsibility for project completion.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with customer processes and operational requirements in warehouse automation.
  • Solid understanding of networking principles and computer hardware selection and setup.
  • Programming experience in SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or equivalent programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of industrial controls and PLC programming, preferably Allen-Bradley; Siemens experience is also valuable.

What We Offer

  • Opportunities to contribute to complex automation and system integration projects.
  • A collaborative engineering environment focused on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunities to work closely with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Professional development through hands-on project experience and exposure to advanced material-handling technologies.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Must be willing and able to travel approximately 50% routinely, with increased travel as project requirements demand.
  • On-Call Support: Occasional after-hours on-call support may be required.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb a two-story ladder, walk one mile in 20 minutes, lift up to 30 pounds, and work for up to 10 hours standing, sitting, walking, or climbing stairs.
