Are you interested in an internship or co-op opportunity with Philips? We welcome individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) or graduate (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline to participate in a 3–6 month paid opportunity at our Latham, New York site. The preferred start is January 2027 for a spring co-op; qualified candidates seeking a Summer 2027 internship may also be considered. Through this role, you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience supporting the design, manufacture, validation, and continuous improvement of magnetic resonance imaging magnet systems.
Your role:
- Support mechanical engineering and program activities for magnetic resonance imaging magnet manufacturing, with assignments focused on product and process improvements that strengthen safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Industrialization Engineering, Quality, Operations, Research and Development, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to investigate issues and implement practical solutions.
- Assist with engineering documentation and execution, including equipment or tooling requirements, process flow updates, drawing reviews, failure mode and effects analyses, validation deliverables, data collection, and technical reports.
- Participate in hands-on shop-floor activities such as observing manufacturing processes, supporting trials, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting results under the guidance of experienced engineers.
You're the right fit if:
- You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline, with an anticipated graduation date after completion of the internship or co-op, and are available for either a January 2027 co-op start or a Summer 2027 internship.
- Your skills include mechanical design fundamentals, technical problem solving, clear documentation, and data analysis using Microsoft Excel. Experience with computer-aided design, statistical analysis, or manufacturing processes is a bonus.
- You have completed relevant university coursework, laboratory projects, design projects, or a previous internship/co-op involving mechanical systems, manufacturing, quality, testing, or process improvement.
- You are a proactive, detail-oriented individual contributor who communicates clearly, works effectively with cross-functional teams, and is comfortable balancing office-based technical work with hands-on activities in a manufacturing environment.
- You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
How we work together

Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
This is an onsite role requiring full-time presence at the Philips Latham, New York facility.
