Job Title: Intern, Software Engineer (Database Administrator)

About this role

• •Support the team in managing and monitoring Enterprise databases supporting large-scale telecommunications platforms and customer-facing services.
• •Gain hands-on exposure to Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB, and middleware technologies across production and non-production environments.
• •Assist with database monitoring,backup validation, and routine operational tasks
• •Develop automation skills by creating scripts to simplify and automate repetitive database operations.
• •Learn and apply database operational best practices around availability, performance, backup & recovery, and capacity management.

What you'll do

• •Assist in the day-to-day administration and monitoring of Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, and MongoDB databases.
• •Monitor database health, CPU, memory, storage, connections, replication, and other key database metrics.
• •Assist senior DBAs with Oracle database administration, including basic health checks, tablespace monitoring, session monitoring, and operational troubleshooting.
• •Assist with database backup and recovery activities, including backup validation and basic RMAN operations under senior DBA guidance.
• •Develop and maintain Shell/Python scripts for database health checks, monitoring, reporting, and repetitive operational tasks.
• •Monitor MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB environments, including replication, connections, indexes, and query performance.
• •Assist in identifying slow-running queries and inefficient database operations, and work with senior DBAs/application teams on optimization.
• •Assist with database security and compliance activities, including access reviews, database user management, auditing, encryption, and evidence collection.
• •Participate in incident management, problem management, and root cause analysis under the guidance of senior team members.
• •Participate in planned deployment calls and gain exposure to production support processes as appropriate.

What we are looking for

• •Fresh graduates who have recently completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or a closely related field.
• •We also welcome applications from undergraduates who have completed their academic requirements in the relevant Degree fields listed above and are currently awaiting their results.
• •Basic knowledge or experience in database administration, database engineering, IT operations, software engineering, or a related field.
• •Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
• •Basic knowledge of Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, Mongo and PostgreSQL databases.
• •Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix administration
• •Basic scripting knowledge in Shell/Bash or Python.
• •Exposure to automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform is a plus.
• •Good analytical and troubleshooting skills with an eagerness to investigate technical issues.
• •Good communication skills and willingness to learn from senior engineers.
• •Strong interest in database technology, automation, cloud infrastructure, and site reliability engineering.
