DevTech Systems, Inc. is seeking an International Relations Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in the international development and professional services field.
This internship is designed as a structured educational and professional development experience. Through supervised assignments, observation, mentorship, and feedback, the Intern will have opportunities to apply academic concepts and develop practical skills in international affairs research, project and program management, business development, professional communications, stakeholder engagement, and organizational operations.
Learning activities will vary based on the Intern’s academic and professional interests and available educational opportunities at DevTech.
What You Will Learn and Experience
During the internship, the Intern may have opportunities to:
Conduct supervised research on countries, regions, international development issues, policies, institutions, donors, and stakeholders.
Prepare draft research summaries, briefing notes, country or stakeholder profiles, and other analytical materials for feedback.
Learn how international development projects are planned, managed, monitored, and documented.
Observe selected project meetings, workshops, business development discussions, and stakeholder engagements.
Learn how organizations identify and evaluate government contracting, grant, partnership, and other business development opportunities.
Review solicitations and practice conducting opportunity, client, market, and partner research.
Develop professional written and verbal communication skills through supervised exercises and presentations.
Practice using project-management, research, data-organization, and knowledge-management tools.
Gain exposure to professional stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication.
Complete a culminating research and writing project related to international development or international affairs.
Throughout the internship, the Intern will receive instruction, mentorship, and feedback from DevTech staff and will have opportunities to revise work and demonstrate continued skill development.
What You Will Bring
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program; International Relations, International Development, Political Science, Global Studies, Economics, or a related field preferred.
Strong interest in international development, international affairs, consulting, government contracting, or professional services.
Strong research, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Canva or other professional tools is a plus.
Curiosity, initiative, professionalism, and an interest in learning from multiple areas of an international organization.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Internship Structure
This is an unpaid educational internship intended primarily to provide the Intern with structured learning, mentorship, practical experience, and professional development. Activities are performed under supervision and are selected for their educational value.
The internship is not intended to replace or displace paid employees, and the Intern will not independently manage projects, clients, proposals, or other organizational functions ordinarily assigned to DevTech employees.
There is no expectation or guarantee of paid employment with DevTech following completion of the internship.
Selection Process
Applicants will be evaluated based on relevant coursework, demonstrated interest in international affairs or international development, applicable skills and experience, academic and professional goals, and interview performance.
