Intern within Technology, Innovation & Services Flight Physics (d/f/m)
Are you looking for an internship and want to get to know the work of an Innovation Manager? Then apply now! We look forward to you supporting us in the Flight Physics Team for Technology, Innovation & Services.
- Location: Hamburg
- Start: 1st December 2026
- Duration: 6 months
About Us
Airbus is a global leader in aeronautics, space, and related services. The Flight Physics Center of Competence brings together Aerodynamics, Loads & Aeroelastics, Mass Properties, Aircraft Performance & Flight Dynamics, and Strategy & Capabilities. In Hamburg, our team works at the intersection of future technology, daily engineering capabilities, and strategic direction. We believe true innovation comes as well from fresh perspectives—which is why this internship is centered on your ideas.
The Challenge: Bring Your Innovation Idea to Airbus
We are not simply assigning a pre-defined task.
As part of your application, we ask you to submit a concrete innovative proposal addressing one of the core technical domains of Flight Physics (e.g., Aerodynamics, Loads & Aeroelastics, Mass Properties, Performance, or Digitalization/Capabilities/& Artificial Intelligence/LLM).
Your application must answer: What can Flight Physics technically do to keep innovating? Any service we can offer to our customers? Any technical improvement you propose?
Your Application Deliverables
- Concrete Idea & Pitch: A short presentation or a short video pitch detailing your technical innovation proposal.
- Business Value Proposition: Clear explanation of how your idea improves our engineering portfolio, optimizes daily operations, or drives strategic tech watch.
- Roadmap Proposal: A high-level execution plan outlining how your technical idea can be scouted, prototyped, or implemented during a 6-month timeframe
Your location: Hamburg Finkenwerder
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.
Finkenwerder
Are you wondering how you actually get from university to Airbus? Your position is at the Finkenwerder plant and you can take the ferry from Teufelsbrück to the Airbus ferry terminal and back to the university in the morning and at noon. Alternatively, you can take the ferry to Finkenwerder and then ride your bike for about another 15 minutes to the main entrance.
Your benefits
- Work-life balance with a 35-hour week (flexitime) and EUR 750 gross/monthly salary.
- International environment with the opportunity to network globally.
- Work with modern/diversified technologies.
- Opportunity to participate in the Generation Airbus Community to expand your own network.
- 35-Hour Week: Flexitime policy supporting a healthy work-life balance.
- Real Ownership: You are an active team member with direct responsibility, participating in weekly transnational team meetings—not brewing coffee.
- Community & Networking: Access to the Generation Airbus Community to expand your network globally.
- Hamburg Site Experience: Located at the Elbe river, offering a unique industrial and cultural environment.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Drive Your Own Project: Autonomously develop, research, and prototype the innovation proposal you pitched during your application alongside with technical specialists and in alignment with overall strategy.
- Support the Transnational Campaign: Work within the Innovation Management Team to help deploy our campaign and actively foster a creative, open-minded innovation culture within Flight Physics and be involved in our ideation campaign.
- Technology Scouting & Methodologies: Benchmark industry practices, research emerging tech trends, and evaluate tools/frameworks to keep Flight Physics ahead of the curve.
