Internship / Master Thesis: Advanced Power Electronics & Hardware Design (d/f/m)

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Research & Exploration: Investigate modern semiconductor devices (e.g., SiC, GaN)
  • and innovative converter topologies suited for high-performance applications.
  • Simulation & Modeling: Use PLECS and LTSpice to model converter topologies,
  • analyze circuit behavior, and validate design concepts prior to prototyping.
  • Hardware Design: Design and develop PCBs for power electronic prototypes, focusing on optimized layout for fast switching and low parasitic inductance.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Assembly, testing, and initial operation of power electronic
  • circuits in the laboratory, verifying simulation results with real-world measurements.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time student within Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a similar field of studies.
  • A solid understanding of basic power electronics components and inverter topologies.
  • Proven experience in PCB design and layout (preferably in KiCAD). This is essential for the practical aspects of the work.
  • Proficiency and enthusiasm for circuit simulation using tools like PLECS and LTSpice, geared towards research and rapid prototyping.
  • A proactive, curious, and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Fluent communication skills in English and German.
