Financial Crimes & Fraud Mgmt Job Description:
The Issue Management Coordinator plays a critical role within Financial Crimes Management, supporting key risk and compliance functions such as fraud prevention, insider threat management, and Know Your Customer (KYC) oversight. This team is responsible for leading and coordinating the remediation of compliance issues when regulatory or legal requirements are not met. By partnering closely with business lines and second-line-of-defense teams, the coordinator drives corrective action plans, ensures accountability, and facilitates the successful return to compliance while minimizing operational and regulatory risk.
Depth & Scope:
- Responsible for overall Management of a departmental unit within the Collection/Fraud Operations group
- Manages supervisors with a team of exempt and non-exempt employees
- Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching for assigned units often through subordinate supervisory employees
- Establishes goals and objectives for regular operations and special projects. Develops plans to manage units' operational performance and ensure the achievement of both short and long-term goals and objectives. Oversees completion of goals and objectives and the meeting of deadlines for assigned units
- Researches and resolves issues that cross several areas of operations and other areas of the company. Delegates tasks and authority to enhance performance of assigned units. Promotes innovation and ingenuity in addressing recurring issues. Empowers subordinate supervisors to delegate authority as appropriate to enhance the overall responsiveness and efficiency of the department
- Directly monitors progress towards goals and project completion. Manages operational communications between internal and external units to ensure issues are resolved. Develops changes in policy or procedure to improve communications between units
- Leads and develops staff to exceed goals - provides guidance and exercises authority concerning personnel issues relative to staffing, appraisals/salary recommendations, promotions and terminations
- Evaluates policies for improvement opportunities. Makes recommendations and assists in implementing any approved changes
- Participates in bank conversions as they pertain to assigned units. This may include, but is not limited to, assisting in the maintenance of the project plan; ensuring tasks are completed within established guidelines, and assisting in the migration of all functions
- Ensures effective compliance with all job-relevant State and Federal regulations, including, but not limited to Employee policies, procedures, CRA EEO/AA, as well as all job relevant Risk Management and Corporate standards. Ensures TD Bank maintains satisfactory audits and exams within all areas
- Develops and implements comprehensive strategic plans and provides leadership and corporate vision for areas of responsibility. Contributes to the development of an overall strategic planning process for the unit and participates in the efforts to ensure achievement of division and corporate objectives
- Implements changes or reorganization of units to enhance operational performance and create efficiency of operations
- Assists in setting operational goals and meeting performance standards
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree
- 7+ Years of related experience
- Operational management experience specific to the section of operations managed is required
- In-depth knowledge of principles, practices, policies, and procedures related to the operational areas managed is required
- Strong leadership, delegation, coaching, and mentoring skills are required
- Excellent problem/conflict resolution skills are required
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required
- In-depth knowledge of relevant banking rules and policies is required
- The ability to balance competing priorities and make sound decisions within, and outside of, established policy is required
- The ability to develop new policies and procedures in response to and in anticipation of changes in the business environment is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience managing issues through the full Issue Management Lifecycle, including identification, assessment, remediation, validation, and closure.
- Strong understanding of Risk and Control Frameworks, including control design, effectiveness assessment, governance, and oversight practices.
- Proven ability to conduct and lead Root Cause Analyses that identify underlying drivers and support sustainable corrective actions.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across business, compliance, risk, operations, audit, legal, and technology teams.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities, with the ability to evaluate complex information, identify trends, assess impacts, and develop practical solutions.
- Experience leading and coordinating projects and strategic initiatives, including planning, execution, stakeholder management, and delivery against timelines.
- Working knowledge of regulatory expectations, audit processes, and risk management practices within a financial services environment.
- Ability to translate complex business, operational, or regulatory issues into clear, concise, and executive-ready documentation.
- Strong data interpretation, reporting, and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize large data sets into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for audiences ranging from frontline teams to executive leadership.
- Demonstrated executive presence, including the ability to confidently facilitate discussions, challenge assumptions constructively, influence outcomes, and present to senior leadership.
- Strong organizational management skills, including prioritization, workload management, resource coordination, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build relationships, foster collaboration, and drive accountability across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Self-motivated professional with strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently with limited supervision.
