The Mission
The application is called “International Finance System” (IFS). It is an in-house developed core banking system for Wholesale Banking clients, operated and maintained out of Belgium. It offers business services to international branches of ING.
The main business services are payment and cash management services, with additional lending and financial market services which are essential to offer a consistent set of services to the international customers. The main modules are: Account Management / Accounting (GL) / Payments and Cash Management / Commercial Loans & Credits / Back-office arbitrage / Static data.
The support business services offered by IFS allow integrating the application in the finance and risk systems of ING. IFS is running in 8 countries, as logical instances on a shared infrastructure.
Your day to day
- Own the functional support of applications, lead the analysis of complex incidents, identify root causes, and coordinate sustainable resolutions with technical and business teams;
- Lead the definition and refinement of features, ensuring that business objectives, scope, dependencies, assumptions, and acceptance criteria are clearly documented in Confluence;
- Own the functional analysis and define the logical solution architecture, identifying required changes across modules in collaboration with architects, feature engineers, product owners, application leaders, and other subject-matter experts;
- Drive alignment across Product Owners, developers, Operations, and business stakeholders; manage dependencies, risks, and priorities to ensure changes are ready for release;
- Lead peer reviews, ensure the quality and consistency of analysis deliverables, and coach less-experienced analysts;
- Define the end-to-end test approach from a business perspective, review test cases and test data, support defect triage, and coordinate functional readiness for implementation and migration;
- Apply AI tools responsibly to accelerate analysis, improve deliverable quality, explore solution options, and share effective practices with the team;
- Plan and lead UAT with stakeholders, including scenario definition, execution support, issue prioritization, sign-off, and post-implementation validation.
What you’ll bring to the team
Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, including ownership of complex initiatives from discovery through implementation; proven ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process models, and solution recommendations;
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to use pseudocode to describe complex business logic and system behaviour;
- Advanced SQL skills, with the ability to independently analyse data using complex joins, subqueries, aggregations, and data-quality checks;
- Extensive experience in software delivery as an Advanced or Senior Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Tester, or Developer, with a strong understanding of the full development lifecycle;
- Fluent English and the ability to communicate confidently with senior stakeholders and distributed teams, facilitate decision-making, and present complex topics clearly.
Nice to have:
- Core banking experience;
- Agile methodology;
- Advanced requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, traceability, and change management across complex initiatives;
- Advanced business process modelling, impact assessment, gap analysis, and the ability to recommend pragmatic target-state solutions;
- Strong stakeholder leadership, facilitation, negotiation, conflict-resolution, and cross-functional collaboration skills;
- Practical knowledge of AI prompting, output validation, data confidentiality, and responsible AI use;
- Curiosity and passion for exploring AI technologies, identifying valuable business-analysis use cases, and helping colleagues adopt effective approaches;
Banking/payments SWIFT standard (non-exhaustive list includes: MT103, 101, 202, 202COV, 203, 200, 210).
