We’re looking for an IT Commercial Delivery Lead to lead our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Commercial team and help us get the best value and performance from our technology suppliers. You’ll combine hands-on people leadership with IT commercial expertise, ensuring our day-to-day contracting, assurance and reporting activities are delivered consistently, efficiently and to a high standard, embedding a data led commercial approach.

What you’ll be doing

Lead, develop and support a team of five Commercial Performance Managers and Analysts, setting clear priorities and balancing competing demands.

Act as the first point of escalation for team and framework queries, delivery challenges and commercial issues.

Provide practical guidance on contracting approaches, call-off contracts, mini-competitions, best-for-task resource processes and framework self-service activity.

Oversee financial and contractual performance reporting, assurance plans, audits, governance controls and risk-based assessments.

Support DDaT Framework Managers to deliver in-year performance, realise negotiated benefits and resolve operational framework issues.

Strengthen capability, resilience and knowledge-sharing through coaching, onboarding, training, standard operating procedures and critical incident reviews.

Improve commercial processes, analytics and dashboards to reduce waste, optimise value and embed continuous improvement.

Build effective relationships with director level senior stakeholders (including DDaT Director, and Commercial Director), framework suppliers and specialist partners.

What we’re looking for

Proven experience leading high-performing teams in an IT Commercial environment and delivering consistent commercial or operational services.

Strong experience managing workloads, priorities and competing demands across a team.

Experience working in operational environments with multiple stakeholders and commercial or contractual complexity.

A strong understanding of performance management, operational risk, governance and continuous improvement.

Experience delivering contracting and performance processes and embedding effective ways of working.

Demonstrable successes in delivering data led commercial process improvement

Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail and the confidence to resolve issues and influence senior stakeholders.

Strong commercial judgement, negotiation and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risk.

Advanced Excel skills and proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

Experience working in politically sensitive, supplier-led or outsourced IT environments, including SaaS.

Change or project management experience at management level, with knowledge of PRINCE2 or a similar methodology.

A technical, financial, commercial or engineering qualification.

Experience of contract negotiation, drafting contractual documents and applying a range of commercial models.

Knowledge of utilities or regulated procurement legislation and experience developing or improving business processes.
