IT&Data Chapter Manager Data Engineering

An experienced Data & Analytics Architecture Manager responsible for defining, governing, and overseeing enterprise data solution architectures across multiple business domains and product teams. The role ensures scalable, secure, and high-quality data solutions by driving architecture governance, leading design decisions, managing architecture resources, and collaborating with business and technology stakeholders.

This position combines architecture leadership, governance, vendor management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure data platforms and solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives.

Responsibilities

Architecture Governance

Define and govern end-to-end data solution architecture.

Review and approve architecture designs and technical decisions.

Establish architecture guardrails, principles, and best practices.

Ensure solutions meet security, scalability, reliability, and compliance requirements.

Lead architecture review boards and design forums.

Solution Architecture

Drive solution architecture for enterprise data and analytics initiatives.

Define integration approaches and architectural patterns.

Oversee data platform design and technology selection.

Review non-functional requirements including performance, resiliency, and security.

Guide architectural decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

Vendor & Resource Management

Manage external architects, consultants, and vendor teams.

Drive vendor governance, performance management, and cost optimization.

Allocate architecture resources across projects and initiatives.

Support workforce planning and architecture capacity management.

Leadership & Capability Development

Mentor and coach architects and technical teams.

Support architecture capability development and knowledge sharing.

Promote adoption of architecture standards and reusable patterns.

Establish best practices across architecture communities.

Stakeholder Management

Partner with business leaders, product owners, engineering managers, and technology teams.

Translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.

Drive alignment between architecture strategy and business priorities.

Present architecture recommendations to senior leadership.

Technical requirements

Expertise expected

– Strong data & analytics architecture expertise with hands-on credibility on modern cloud platforms (e.g. Azure: ADF, Databricks, ADLS), lakehouse and distributed data processing

– Mastery of ingestion/sharing patterns, data modeling and non-functional requirements (security, scalability, resilience)

– Ability to reason across a product perimeter and to arbitrate complex, high-impact architecture decisions

Leadership positioning

– Proven experience steering external architects and deciding autonomously within standards

– Excellent communication, stakeholder management and servant-leadership skills

Additional responsibilities

Experienced Data & Analytics Architect with expertise in enterprise data architecture, cloud platforms, data governance, solution design, stakeholder management, vendor leadership, and large-scale analytics ecosystems.
