IT Manager Global Supply Chain (m/f/d) – flexible within Europe

Walter’s Digital Transformation & IT team, in close collaboration with Machining BA IT organization, is evolving to fully leverage the combined strength of all Machining BA divisions and its increasing number of shared digital & IT platforms that drive agility, efficiency and incremental business value creation.

We’re looking for an experienced and agile leader to join our Digital Transformation & IT team (DT & IT) and drive the execution of our divisional strategy within Global Supply Chain and IT. Other activities related to Sustainability or Compliance could be considered as well in this portfolio of responsibilities.

Your Mission

In close alignment with Machining Business Area IT organization, you will define and execute Walter’s IT strategy supporting our Global Supply Chain business partners and enabling their short- and long-term objectives. You’re responsible for maintaining and delivering on our Global Supply Chain IT roadmap towards maximizing value creation.

Together with your team, you will act as a trusted IT Business Partner to our Global Supply Chain Organization, providing strategic guidance and innovative solutions across ERP, Planning, Logistics, Procurement, Quality & Tool Management Solutions and related digital platforms.

Included in your mission is to

• •Shape and continuously evolve Walter’s digital Supply Chain landscape and ensure successful delivery of transformation initiatives and projects from ideation to go-live.
• •Collaborate globally with business, IT and external partners.
• •Ensure reliable and secure operations of existing applications and platforms, leverage Walter DT&IT capabilities and shared group-level services.
• •Drive, jointly with business stakeholders, process harmonization and automation.
• •Lead and develop a global team of SAP S/4HANA and Supply Chain application experts (internal and external)
• •Coach your team, including leveraging best practices in solution design, configuration and implementation, internally and across sister divisions.
• •Inspire your team by promoting innovation, continuous learning and exploration of emerging technologies, including AI Supply Chain use cases.
• •Manage strategic vendor relationships and external partnerships.
• •Contribute to the DT&IT team strategic thinking and strategy steering.

In this position you report to the Head of IT PLM & Global Operations. You lead a team of about 10-12 direct reports and contractors across Germany, the Czech Republic and Romania. Travelling to Walter Global headquarters in Tübingen, Germany once per month is expected.

With excellent intercultural competence, you easily interact with a high number of stakeholders in a complex environment. Add the following qualifications and you have what it takes to really thrive in this role:

• •You have a university degree in computer science, business administration, supply chain or a related discipline with an information technology focus or equivalent professional experience.
• •At least 5 years of professional experience in IT, preferably supporting Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Logistics and/or Quality or related business domains
• •A minimum of 3 years hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and related digital ecosystems, including integration platforms and associated technologies. Experience with SAP MM, PP, QM and/or IBP is highly desirable.
• •Strong understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain processes and supporting technologies.
• •Proven track record of delivering global IT projects and drive business transformation in complex international environments.
• •You bring a strong understanding of solution architecture and process-oriented application design.
• •You drive change, have excellent communication skills, know how to manage stakeholders and have advanced influencing skills.
• •Experience leading geographically distributed teams and managing external service providers.
• •With very good spoken and written English skills you can inspire others with your ideas and vision.
