Java Fullstack Developer

The Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for the end-to-end design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise-grade application systems and programs. Working in close collaboration with the engineering leads, product managers, architects, and business stakeholders, the incumbent will contribute to modernizing, scaling, and engineering mission-critical applications across the technology landscape.

This role requires a proactive developer with strong hands-on experience in Java Full Stack development , relational databases ( Oracle ), modern front-end frameworks ( Angular or React ), and familiarity with modern containerization and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Full Stack Application Engineering & Development

• •Design, build, test, and deploy resilient, scalable, and secure full stack software solutions using Java/J2EE (Java 11/17+) , Spring Boot , and Microservices architecture.
• •Develop interactive, responsive, and intuitive user interfaces using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks ( Angular or React ), adhering to UX/UI design guidelines and accessibility standards.
• •Design, optimize, and maintain relational data models, complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers using Oracle Database ; perform query performance tuning and indexing.
• •Build and expose secure, high-performance RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external enterprise systems, message brokers, and legacy architectures.
• •Implement comprehensive automated testing suites, including unit testing (JUnit, Mockito, Jest/Karma), integration testing, and end-to-end testing to ensure high code quality and test coverage.

2. Architecture, Modernization & Cloud Integration

• •Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions, translating complex business specifications into detailed technical designs.
• •Support containerization initiatives using Docker and deployment orchestration across OpenShift / Kubernetes platforms.
• •Assist in cloud readiness assessments and adoption strategies for enterprise public/hybrid cloud architectures (e.g., AWS , GCP ).
• •Design and integrate with NoSQL datastores (such as MongoDB ) for high-throughput or document-based persistence requirements where applicable.

3. CI/CD, DevOps & Operational Excellence

• •Collaborate on CI/CD pipeline automation (e.g., Tekton, Jenkins, Harness, GitLab CI) for automated build, scanning, and deployment workflows.
• •Identify, triage, and remediate application bottlenecks, bugs, and production incidents to guarantee system uptime, reliability, and low latency.
• •Conduct vulnerability assessments, static/dynamic code analysis (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk, Checkmarx), and remediate security findings in accordance with secure coding standards.

4. Collaboration, Leadership & Governance

• •Act as a technical advisor and mentor to junior developers and analysts, promoting clean code principles, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• •Identify architectural technical debt and propose pragmatic refactoring and continuous improvement solutions.
• •Exercise independence of judgment and autonomy, operating effectively with limited direct supervision while managing deliverables across sprint cycles.
• •Risk & Control Adherence: Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Technical Experience (Mandatory)

• •Core Back-End Development: Strong proficiency in Java (Java 8, 11, 17+) and core enterprise libraries.Hands-on experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot (Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate, Spring Security, Spring Cloud).Proven track record building and consuming RESTful Web Services & APIs .
• •Front-End Development: Demonstrated experience with modern client-side frameworks: Angular (v10+) or React.js .Solid understanding of TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3/SCSS , and front-end state management (NgRx, Redux, or Context API).
• •Database & Persistence: In-depth experience with Oracle Database development (SQL, PL/SQL, indexing, query optimization, execution plans).
• •Tooling & Engineering Practices: Proficiency with version control systems ( Git / Bitbucket / GitHub ).Experience with build and dependency management tools ( Maven , Gradle , npm/yarn ).Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code quality tools.

Preferred / Good to Have Skills

• •Experience with NoSQL databases, specifically MongoDB or document-oriented data storage.
• •Experience deploying and managing workloads on container platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes .
• •Hands-on experience or foundational knowledge of Public Cloud platforms ( AWS or Google Cloud Platform / GCP ).
• •Exposure to messaging and event streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka , RabbitMQ , or IBM MQ ).
• •Familiarity with financial services domain concepts, regulatory reporting, or transaction processing systems.

Professional & Core Competencies

• •4+ years of relevant experience in software engineering and application development (experience in Banking / Financial Services is a plus).
• •Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting capabilities with attention to detail.
• •Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• •Adaptability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment under shifting priorities and deadlines.

Education

Bachelor’s degree / University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
