DESCRIPTION:

As a Junior Estimator at Tutor Perini Corp., you will have the opportunity to support the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including highways, bridges, underground utilities, transportation infrastructure, earthwork, and site development projects. This role is ideal for an early-career construction professional looking to develop expertise in quantity takeoffs, pricing, subcontractor solicitation, and bid preparation.

  • Assist in developing cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and temporary works.
  • Review project drawings, geotechnical reports, specifications, and bid requirements.

  • Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating records.
  • Support the preparation of bid packages, proposals, and estimate summaries.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and senior estimators to validate construction methods and pricing assumptions.
  • Assist with risk analysis, value engineering opportunities, and scope reviews.
  • Organize and maintain bid documents, correspondence, and estimate files.
  • Help prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for ongoing and future projects.
  • Ensure estimates comply with company standards, client requirements, and project schedules.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in construction estimating, project engineering, field engineering, or a related heavy civil environment, preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
