Sanford Laboratories is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Laboratory Business Intelligence Analyst to transform complex data into actionable insights that drive department, sales, and customer success. In this role, you will manage special projects, ensure data integrity, and oversee the integration and maintenance of vital laboratory systems and supporting databases.

The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of abstract problem-solving skills and technical aptitude, with a continuous focus on automating manual processes and developing on-demand descriptive data tools. As a key communicator, you will translate intricate statistical concepts into clear financial reviews, market performance reports, and pricing studies for management and sales teams.

We are looking for an adaptable, enthusiastic self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment, welcomes analytical challenges, and maintains the highest standards of data confidentiality and professionalism.

Summary

The Laboratory Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst analyzes and reports statistical, financial, and clinical data to support laboratory operations, leadership, and the reference lab sales team. Core responsibilities include tracking trends, evaluating financial and market performance, setting pricing structures, and maintaining data integrity across laboratory systems. Applicants need strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and learn new systems.

Job Description

The analyst develops reports and data requests supporting broader laboratory operations and leadership, alongside granular analysis of orders and revenue from reference laboratory clients. Key duties include designing executive dashboards that break down information to market-level insights, and analyzing comprehensive quality metrics, turnaround times, operational indicators, and enterprise pathology reporting. Additional responsibilities involve completing special projects, integrating and maintaining database structures, automating manual tasks to build user-friendly reporting tools, presenting findings clearly to management and sales teams, maintaining data confidentiality, and approaching challenges with patience, tact, and enthusiasm.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related healthcare/STEM field, along with 1 to 2 years of clinical laboratory experience required.

Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) and, experience with Epic Beaker, Cogito, and/or Caboodle are highly preferred.
