Job Description
Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Working Pattern: 3 shift 7 day cover (Mornings/Afternoons/Days )
Working location: Derby Raynesway
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technician to work in a challenging, yet exciting environment, supporting production of the Royal Navy’s Nuclear Steam Raising Plant. The role is shift based, which includes a significant premium and time off, in addition to getting to be apart of a world leading nuclear enterprise.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
Previous Laboratory experience is mandatory for this as you will be performing ongoing testing and maintenance;
- Supporting routine analysis of samples from Core Production operations
- Operating and maintaining analytical equipment; ICP OES , ICP MS and Gas Analyser
- Working to SOP’s (or equivalent) to ensure safe operations
- Assisting with producing risk and COSHH assessments to maintain safety
- Carrying out general laboratory duties
- Ensuring safe use and storage of chemicals.

· Practical Laboratory Testing Experience.
· Scientific Qualification.
· An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
· Experience using Microsoft/Database Systems.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
