With locations in Valencia, Chatsworth, Camarillo and Santa Maria, we serve clients from Los Angeles County to the Central Coast. Employment Type: Full Time Location: Valencia, CA Reports to: Chief Estimator
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
The position of Estimator lies within our Estimating Department and plays a critical support role in the business development of our Landscape Construction business. Experience/Training
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-5 years of experience within the construction field or equivalent field experience
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings
- Ability to gather, calculate, and compile takeoff data for bid use
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
Responsibilities
- Review plans, general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, site logistics and other exhibits
- Prepare organized and complete takeoffs
- Request and obtain quotes for all scope from multiple vendors and sub-contractors
- Enters takeoff information and quotes into estimating software
- Analyze alternate means and methods to determine value engineering suggestions
- Draft proposal documents
Additional Skills
- Knowledge of plants and irrigation systems
- Proficient with On-Screen Takeoff software
- Construction management background or higher education on is a bonus
