Duties

As the Law Enforcement Coordination Specialist in the Western District of New York, you will perform a variety of duties to promote the effective utilization of federal, state, and local law enforcement resources. Duties include: Establishing and maintaining communication between the United States Attorney's Office and federal, state, and local organizations; Coordinating law enforcement programs by providing a regular forum for organization representatives; Analyzing law enforcement programs, audiences, and priorities; Identifying the informational and resource needs of law enforcement organizations; Developing and disseminating relevant information through appropriate media; and Managing a comprehensive Law Enforcement Coordination program Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience as defined below. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized Experience includes: Identifying, fostering, and maintaining extensive professional contacts throughout the district from federal, state, county, local, campus, and tribal Law Enforcement Agencies that vary in size, capacity, jurisdictional challenges, and maintaining a directory of those contacts; Monitors changes in laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures that impact law enforcement, and communicates the potential impact on district operations and recommendations to district leadership and others; Identifies, analyzes, and conveys information about complex public safety issues to individuals internal and external to the district; Plans, coordinates, and facilitates meetings, working groups, trainings, and other activities, including developing discussion topics and agendas; and compiles, organizes, and develops written information (e.g., plans, program materials, briefing materials, presentations) to educate and facilitate decision making. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) - The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
