Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise IT Vendor Management Office (VMO) within McKesson Technology's Operational Excellence and Governance organization, the Vendor Lead, Enterprise IT VMO supports McKesson's managed services and strategic technology supplier contract ecosystem. This role executes and matures vendor governance and accountability across managed services providers (MSPs) and strategic vendors, and is responsible for supplier performance, SOW development and oversight, commercial and contract management, risk management, financial management, compliance, relationship management and service optimization. The Lead, VMO is a key contributor to VMO's transformation from an administrative unit into a strategic engine for operational resilience and excellence, with an internal client-focused mindset.

The Vendor Lead is McKesson Technology's embedded point of accountability for strategic vendor relationships by translating vendor performance into measurable improvements in service quality, delivery stability and cost outcomes for the Service Areas they support. This role owns the vendor accountability framework, drives remediation when performance slips and ensures Service Area clients have the leverage and evidence to hold vendors to committed outcomes.

The successful candidate brings hands-on experience across the full range of vendor and procurement activities in vendor I&IT professional services contracts; analyzing pricing structures, evaluating fixed-price vs. T&M trade-offs, writing scope and acceptance criteria that hold up in delivery and reviewing SOWs and contracts with a technical eye. They're equally comfortable in detail and in front of senior leadership, translating vendor performance and delivery risk into insights executives can act on. You're low-ego, collaborative, and willing to do the heavy lifting required to help establish a best-in-class VMO.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor Management & Governance

Execute and support enterprise-wide vendor management and governance frameworks for MSPs and strategic technology suppliers, including performance management, compliance, risk mitigation, and contract adherence.

Manage key supplier relationships, serving as a primary point of contact for supplier performance, issue escalation, and day-to-day engagement.

Support post-contract commercial management activities including cost optimization, value realization, vendor negotiations, performance management, and portfolio rationalization.

Ensure adherence to McKesson vendor management policies, standards, and regulatory requirements across all managed services and supplier engagements.

Manage the Contractual Change Control process, ensuring all Change Notices are commercially validated, competitively priced, and aligned with the Master Service Agreement.

Conduct audits of vendor invoices against contractual rate cards, terms, and resource baseline models (RU/ARU) to identify overbilling, volume variances and value-for-money gaps.

Drive and own the end-to-end enterprise governance framework, including contractual governance meetings/committees and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) for strategic technology partners.

Drive rigor in the post-governance cycle by ensuring all actions, issues, innovation commitments, and escalations are tracked to resolution, holding both internal stakeholders and vendors accountable.

Critically evaluate vendor or internal business proposed scope, resource models, and technical approaches in SOWs and change notices, challenging assumptions where effort appears misaligned with complexity, business need, commercial structure or market norms.

Service Performance & Operational Excellence

Support an enterprise approach to service performance by tracking metrics, governance activities, and performance insights that improve stability, delivery quality, and customer outcomes.

Lead performance analysis, gap assessments, and opportunity identification across critical MT processes; support change implementation to strengthen scalability and resilience.

Support the maturation of the enterprise Service Delivery Model, collaborating with Service Delivery Managers to ensure consistent execution and accountability.

Champion a culture of continuous improvement, operational rigor, and performance transparency across the team and with vendor partners.

Apply working knowledge of IT service delivery lifecycles to assess whether vendor delivery and commercial models, staffing structures, and solution designs are properly scoped and appropriately scaled to meet business needs.

Platform & Process Governance

Lead the ongoing development and evolution of tools and platforms that govern McKesson's MSP and supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with enterprise governance and performance objectives.

Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align processes, data, and tools that enable end-to-end service visibility and informed decision-making.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

Build credibility with Senior Director-level and VP-level stakeholders by providing data-driven insights on supplier performance, service quality, and operational risk.

Monitor vendor landscape and market trends to support technology strategy recommendations that drive enterprise value.

Ensure alignment of team goals and operating plans with McKesson's business strategy and enterprise priorities with internal Mckesson Service Area pillars.

Partner closely with the Sourcing & Procurement (S&P) organization to support seamless transitions from pre contracting workstreams and activities through to contract execution to steady-state operational management.

Serve as an operational feedback loop for S&P, providing insights on vendor performance, service quality, and contractual pain points to inform future renewals and category strategies.

Scope & Impact

Operational accountability for strategic supplier performance, commercial terms, managed services delivery, and service governance across McKesson Technology.

Financial stewardship of vendor portfolio costs, service performance tracking, and cost optimization initiatives.

Leadership of cross-functional workstreams requiring strong influencing, coordination, and analytical skills.

Direct leadership of a team with impact spanning enterprise operations and internal client outcomes.

Preferred Experience / Capabilities

Expertise in managed IT services, strategic vendor management, MSP governance and service performance management.

Experience supporting large-scale service delivery models and enterprise operating frameworks.

Strong financial, commercial contract management and business acumen.

Functional understanding of IT solution and service delivery lifecycles (design, build, test, run/operate, retire) sufficient to critically evaluate vendor scope proposals, challenge resource and effort assumptions, and identify over-engineering or scope inflation in SOWs and change notices.

Demonstrated ability to review, challenge and improve vendor or business scope and requirements deliverables, and technical approaches, assessing whether proposed scope is necessary, appropriately sized, and aligned with the actual business problem being solved.

Ability to propose appropriate contracting and pricing
