• The Sr. Machinery Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical systems. This role performs complex diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs, ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• This job profile is intended for experienced support-level staff that generally works autonomously and only requires closer supervision in non-routine situations.

Position Summary

The Lead Generator Rotor Winder is responsible for performing and leading generator rotor winding, rewinding, repair, refurbishment, and assembly activities for industrial generators and rotating electrical equipment. This role serves as the lead technician for rotor winding operations, providing technical guidance, coordinating daily work assignments, ensuring quality standards are met, and supporting the development of winding personnel. The Lead Rotor Winder works closely with production, engineering, quality, and management teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

• •Perform rotor winding, rewinding, insulation replacement, and repair activities on generator rotors.
• •Interpret engineering drawings, winding diagrams, specifications, and repair procedures.
• •Install conductors, insulation systems, retaining components, wedges, and associated hardware.
• •Perform dimensional inspections and verify winding accuracy throughout the repair process.
• •Conduct electrical testing, including resistance, continuity, insulation resistance, and other diagnostic tests.
• •Troubleshoot and resolve winding-related issues and defects.

Leadership Responsibilities

• •Lead daily rotor winding activities and coordinate workflow among winding technicians.
• •Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to team members.
• •Train and mentor new employees, apprentices, and less experienced winders.
• •Assist supervisors with job planning, labor estimates, and project scheduling.
• •Monitor work quality and ensure adherence to company and customer standards.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• •Ensure all work complies with quality procedures, engineering requirements, and customer specifications.
• •Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
• •Identify opportunities for process improvements, increased efficiency, and reduced rework.
• •Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, inspections, and test results.

Safety Responsibilities

• •Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
• •Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements.
• •Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices within the winding area.
• •Report unsafe conditions and participate in safety improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• •High school diploma or GED.
• •Minimum of 10 years of generator rotor winding, motor winding, or related rotating equipment experience.
• •demonstrated experience leading projects or mentoring technicians.
• •Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• •Strong understanding of rotor winding techniques, insulation systems, and repair processes.
• •Proficiency in the use of electrical testing equipment and precision measuring tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• •Technical degree or vocational certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
• •Experience with large industrial generators, turbine generators, or power generation equipment.
• •Knowledge of rotor balancing and generator testing procedures.
• •Previous leadership or team lead experience in a manufacturing or repair environment.
