About AirPro

AirPro Diagnostics designs, builds, and supports diagnostic and ADAS calibration technology used by collision repair and auto glass professionals. We engineer our own hardware, develop our own software, and manufacture products in our Jacksonville facility.

Our engineers work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototype through production and field support.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Lead Product Engineer with strong electrical engineering expertise and broad mechanical design capability. This role will own the development of electromechanical products used daily in automotive repair environments.

A primary focus will be leading the transition from aging commercial tablet-based hardware to a new single-board-computer platform with a custom carrier board. You will oversee electronics integration, mechanical design, manufacturing readiness, validation, and continuous product improvement.

As our first dedicated hardware engineer, you will help establish engineering standards, influence product architecture, and build future technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical & Electronics

Review and improve schematics, PCB layouts, and carrier board designs.

Design wiring harnesses, power systems, connector interfaces, and sensor integrations.

Build, test, and troubleshoot prototypes using scopes, meters, and diagnostic tools.

Maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, schematics, and revision control.

Support EMI/ESD, thermal, ingress protection, and reliability requirements.

Embedded & Control Systems

Configure and troubleshoot single-board computers, industrial PCs, sensors, and control systems.

Work with USB, CAN, RS-232/485, I2C/SPI, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi interfaces.

Develop engineering utilities, automation tools, calibration software, and test scripts in Python or C/C++.

Collaborate closely with software and firmware teams.

Mechanical & Product Design

Design enclosures, frames, fixtures, mounts, and adjustable mechanisms using 3D CAD.

Create production drawings with appropriate tolerances and GD&T.

Prototype and iterate designs using in-house equipment.

Own critical alignment and accuracy requirements related to ADAS calibration systems.

Manufacturing & Quality

Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve manufacturability and reduce cost.

Develop assembly procedures, work instructions, fixtures, and test methods.

Support pilot builds, production launches, and ongoing manufacturing operations.

Investigate product failures and implement corrective actions.

Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, validation testing, change control, and compliance activities.

Supplier & Cross-Functional Support

Work directly with PCB vendors, machine shops, molders, and contract manufacturers.

Support sourcing, supplier qualification, first article inspections, and product launches.

Partner with Product, Quality, Purchasing, Technical Support, and Operations teams.

Contribute to intellectual property development and patent activities.

Qualifications Required

6+ years developing electromechanical products.

Strong electrical engineering foundation with experience reviewing schematics and PCB designs.

Experience taking physical products from concept through production.

Manufacturing support experience, including pilot builds and production ramp-up.

Hands-on experience with soldering, wiring, harness fabrication, and electronic troubleshooting.

Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred; equivalent platforms accepted).

Experience with embedded systems, industrial computing platforms, or control systems.

Ability to write or modify engineering software, scripts, or test utilities.

Strong root-cause analysis and technical documentation skills.

Comfortable working between engineering labs and manufacturing environments.

ADAS Knowledge Required

Candidates should have a strong understanding of modern ADAS systems, including cameras, radar, LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, and calibration procedures. The ability to understand OEM calibration requirements, sensor alignment tolerances, and calibration workflows is highly desirable.

Preferred

Automotive, ADAS, diagnostics, collision repair, instrumentation, or precision equipment experience.

Experience with machine vision, cameras, radar, LiDAR, IMUs, or alignment systems.

Injection molding, tooling, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, or battery systems experience.

Familiarity with OBD-II, J2534 PassThru, and CAN-based vehicle diagnostics.

Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949 experience.

Experience in fast-growth or private-equity-backed organizations.

What Success Looks Like

90 Days

Become fully proficient with AirPro products and calibration processes.

Identify opportunities to improve manufacturability and reliability.

6 Months

Own the design and support of at least one product line.

Implement production-ready improvements and DFM enhancements.

12 Months

Lead a product from concept through production release.

Establish robust documentation, validation, and supplier processes.

Work Environment

This position is based on-site in Jacksonville, Florida. Work is performed across engineering labs, prototype benches, manufacturing areas, and vehicle calibration environments. Occasional travel may be required.

Compensation & Benefits
