Lead Software Engineer

About the Role

Great architecture is proven in production, not on a whiteboard. We’re hiring a Lead Software Engineer who designs systems, builds them alongside the team, and stays accountable once they’re live.

Techdome is a profitable, product-driven company with 80+ engineers building healthcare, fintech, AI, and SaaS products. Our platforms handle sensitive patient records and real financial transactions for large user bases. You’ll be a technical leader who helps keep them fast, secure, and dependable as we scale.

What You’ll Do

• •Own the architecture: Lead system design, API contracts, data modeling, security, scalability, observability, and cloud cost across our products.
• •Be accountable for reliability: Own uptime, latency, and throughput as usage grows, including a share of on-call.
• •Build security in from day one: Design safe PHI and payment flows with compliance part of the architecture, not a retrofit.
• •Drive cloud-native delivery: Run MERN-based platforms on AWS, GCP, or Azure using Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and sound secrets management.
• •Make the hard calls: Monolith vs. microservices, event-driven patterns, third-party integrations, build vs. buy. Make the decision, document the reasoning, and stand behind it.
• •Fix what’s broken: Jump into production incidents, find root causes, and resolve performance, scaling, and availability issues.
• •Set the standard: Create reference architectures, reusable patterns, and practical guidelines that our engineering teams can follow.
• •Stay hands-on: Write code, run design reviews, and review pull requests every week.
• •Grow the next leaders: Mentor engineers and help develop future tech leads.

What You Bring

Must have

• •6.5+ years in software engineering, with a record of owning architecture decisions
• •Experience running a live production system with 100,000+ users
• •Proven history of diagnosing and fixing serious scale and performance bottlenecks
• •Strong hands-on skills in Node.js and React (MERN preferred)
• •Solid architecture experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure
• •Background in healthcare, fintech, payments, insurance, or another high-security domain
• •Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design, databases, and reliability engineering
• •Ability to explain and defend technical decisions to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike

Nice to have

• •Hands-on experience with HIPAA, PHI handling, or PCI-DSS compliance
• •Working knowledge of Stripe, Braintree, or tokenization
• •Experience with high-availability, event-driven, or microservices systems
• •Background in SaaS, consulting, or a venture studio
• •Daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot
