We’re building a world of health around every individual — shaping a more connected, convenient and compassionate health experience. At CVS Health®, you’ll be surrounded by passionate colleagues who care deeply, innovate with purpose, hold ourselves accountable and prioritize safety and quality in everything we do. Join us and be part of something bigger – helping to simplify health care one person, one family and one community at a time.

Join a team of architects driving the modernization of CVS Health’s enterprise customer communications ecosystem. This role will help define and enable the platforms that support high-volume outbound communications across CVS Health businesses, connecting marketing, customer data, consent, identity, integration, and cloud capabilities.

We are looking for a highly technical architect who can operate across both enterprise and solution architecture. You will establish the target-state architecture and platform roadmap while also working closely with engineering teams to design integrations, data flows, APIs, and enabling infrastructure.

The ideal candidate brings strong software and platform architecture experience, understands the marketing communications domain, and can architect solutions across Adobe, Salesforce, consent management, and enterprise messaging capabilities. This is not a marketing operations, campaign management, SEO, or digital advertising role. It is a technology architecture position focused on building scalable, connected, and compliant customer communication platforms.

This role can work remotely from anywhere in the continental USA.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture Strategy

Define the target-state architecture and multi-year roadmap for CVS Health’s customer communications and marketing technology ecosystem, connecting capabilities across Caremark, Aetna, Specialty, and other CVS Health business units.

Solution and Platform Architecture

Architect scalable platforms and solutions across customer communications, campaign and journey management, personalization, customer data, consent, preferences, and message archival capabilities.

Platform Modernization

Help guide the evolution of an ecosystem currently centered on Adobe technologies while evaluating and enabling future capabilities across Adobe, Salesforce, and other strategic platforms.

Integration Architecture

Design API-led, event-driven, and data-driven integrations connecting customer communication platforms with enterprise data, identity, cloud, and business applications.

Technical Solution Design

Translate business capabilities into implementable technical designs, including integration logic, APIs, data elements, data relationships, database structures, and system dependencies.

Messaging Enablement

Architect the capabilities required to enable and expand outbound communication channels, including email, SMS, RCS, push notifications, and emerging customer engagement channels.

Consent and Compliance Architecture

Embed customer consent, communication preferences, regulatory controls, suppression requirements, and message archival capabilities into the platform architecture. Partner with Security, Privacy, Legal, Data, and Engineering teams to ensure communications are appropriately governed and compliant.

Data Architecture

Design and evaluate customer data flows, consent and preference models, identity relationships, message records, and high-volume data-processing patterns supporting enterprise customer communications.

Cloud and Infrastructure Architecture

Guide the design of applications, integrations, and supporting infrastructure within GCP and the broader enterprise technology ecosystem.

Vendor and Build-vs-Buy Strategy

Lead technical vendor assessments, proofs of concept, RFP support, and build-versus-buy decisions across customer communications, marketing technology, consent management, and related platforms.

Architecture Governance

Establish reference architectures, standards, reusable patterns, and design principles. Participate in architecture reviews and guide technical debt management and platform rationalization efforts.

Delivery Partnership

Guide solution architects and engineering teams through design, implementation, integration, and deployment activities. Review solutions for security, scalability, resilience, compliance, performance, and cost effectiveness.

Executive Stakeholder Engagement

Present architectural recommendations, trade-offs, risks, and investment options to senior business and technology leaders.

AI and Automation

Evaluate AI and machine learning use cases within customer communications, including next-best action, audience intelligence, personalization, and content generation, while ensuring appropriate architectural and compliance controls.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technology experience, including 5+ years in enterprise, platform, or solution architecture roles.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting large-scale software platforms, including applications, cloud infrastructure, integrations, APIs, and complex data flows.
  • Experience operating across both:
  • Enterprise Architecture , including target-state strategy, cross-domain roadmaps, platform rationalization, vendor evaluation, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Solution Architecture , including detailed platform design, integration patterns, data relationships, APIs, and implementation enablement.
  • Hands-on architecture experience within customer communications, marketing technology, customer engagement platforms, or a closely related domain.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Adobe Experience Cloud, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Experience Platform, or comparable enterprise customer engagement technologies.
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns and technologies, including REST APIs, event-driven architecture, messaging platforms, JSON, streaming technologies, and enterprise integration frameworks.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or enabling cloud-based applications and infrastructure, preferably within GCP.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture fundamentals, including data models, database design, identity resolution, primary keys, customer records, and high-volume data ecosystems.
  • Working knowledge of customer consent, communication preferences, privacy requirements, message retention, and compliance considerations associated with outbound customer communications.
  • Ability to guide engineering teams through complex technical designs without serving as the primary software developer. Candidates should be able to evaluate APIs, data structures, and integration approaches while influencing technical direction.
  • Experience evaluating enterprise technology vendors and supporting proofs of concept, RFPs, technical due diligence, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures and explain trade-offs to senior leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience architecting enterprise messaging or customer communication platforms supporting email, SMS, RCS, push notifications, or similar outbound engagement channels.
  • Salesforce architecture experience across Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or related customer engagement platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Journey Optimizer, or other Adobe Experience Cloud technologies.
  • Experience designing consent management, customer preference, communication suppression, or message archival capabilities.
  • Experience working with terabyte-scale customer, messaging, or transactional data environments.
  • Experience in healthcare, retail, financial services, telecommunications, or other regulated, high-volume consumer industries.
  • Experience working across multiple business units and technology domains within large enterprise e
