Lecturer of Biological Sciences
Barnard is a premier liberal arts undergraduate college for women in New York City affiliated with Columbia University.
Job Description:
The Department of Biology at Barnard College, Columbia University, seeks a full-time Lecturer, starting July 2027, with a specialization in Computational Biology. The teaching load for this position is 6 courses per year. Teaching duties include lecture and laboratory sections of Introduction to Cell and Molecular Biology and upper-level lecture and laboratory courses in Computational Biology. We encourage applications from candidates working in plant biology, biodiversity broadly defined, epidemiology, genomics, systems biology, protein structural biology, and biological data science.
As a full-time reviewed and renewable position, we expect Lecturers to participate fully in the life of the department and college, including advising, mentoring, service, and leadership. Lecturers are reviewed in their third year of full-time service, with the possibility for reappointment and consideration for promotion to Senior Lecturer in the seventh year. Subsequent reviews typically occur on a seven-year cycle.

A Ph.D. is required. Prior experience or demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring diverse students is desirable.
