Legal Assistant – Criminal Defense & Municipal Court Cases The Bianchi Law Group, LLC | Parsippany, NJ | Full-Time
Can you imagine going to work every day knowing your attention to detail and organizational skills are directly helping people through the most difficult moments of their lives?
The Bianchi Law Group, LLC is a team of former prosecutors who aggressively fight the government when our clients are charged with crimes. We handle indictable criminal defense, domestic violence restraining orders, and municipal court cases — including DWI/DUI — throughout the State of New Jersey.
Led by a former head county prosecutor and a former major crimes prosecutor — both certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as Criminal Trial Attorneys — our team operates with Compassion, Courage, and Commitment in everything we do.
We are growing, and we need someone who can grow with us.
Who We Need
Our attorneys and paralegals are in the trenches every day preparing for hearings and trials. We need a sharp, detail-oriented Legal Assistant who can work alongside our team to organize, review, and prepare case materials from intake through verdict.
This is not a passive file-management role. You will be an active part of our trial preparation process — someone who takes ownership, works independently, and understands that the work you do directly impacts our clients' outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing
Discovery Organization & Review
Receive, organize, and catalog incoming discovery materials including police reports, body camera footage, 911 calls, photographs, and videos
Review video evidence for relevant timestamps and events of significance
Maintain accurate, attorney-ready discovery files for all active cases
Trial Preparation Support
Assist attorneys with the preparation and organization of trial notebooks and exhibit binders
Help coordinate and organize witness lists and witness preparation materials
Work under time constraints inherent to criminal and domestic violence proceedings, which often require rapid review of extensive records
Case File Assistance
Assist in obtaining and organizing client-provided evidence, including text messages, recordings, emails, photographs, surveillance footage, and social media records
Help attorneys identify relevant evidence for hearings and trials
Support the paralegal team with case management tasks as needed
The Types of Cases You'll Support
Indictable criminal defense matters
Domestic Violence Final Restraining Order hearings in the Family Part
Municipal court cases, including DWI/DUI
Experience with the criminal cases or the Domestic Violence Act is a significant plus — but not required. We will train the right person.
Who You Are
Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented — you notice what others miss
Able to work efficiently under pressure and tight deadlines
Comfortable handling large volumes of materials and prioritizing effectively
Discreet, professional, and trustworthy with sensitive client information
A team player who can work alongside attorneys and paralegals without needing to be micromanaged
Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with legal software or CRM systems is a plus
Prior experience in a law office, paralegal role, or legal assistant capacity is preferred
Our Office
We are located in a brand-new, state-of-the-art building at the crossroads of I-287 and I-80 in Parsippany, NJ — just minutes from Morristown and Newark. Our building features a gym, golf simulator, arcade games, and large common areas. It's a great place to work.
We also maintain a satellite office in Red Bank for client meetings.
Compensation & Benefits
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15–$20/hour, commensurate with experience
PTO: Paid time off plus holidays
Health Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance with Employer Contribution
Retirement: 401K with Employer Contribution
If you are a hardworking, organized professional who wants to be part of a team that fights hard for its clients every single day, we want to hear from you.
