Summary of Position Functions

The position offers complete flexibility with law school commitments.

Under the supervision of the Legal Department consisting of a General Counsel, Senior Counsel, Associate Counsel and Legal Administrative Assistant, the legal intern will be exposed to real estate transactional law and litigation, contract drafting and negotiations, human resources, marketing, finance, landlord/tenant matters and intellectual property. The legal intern will work closely with each member of the legal team (and outside counsel) to gain a thorough understanding of the work product as well as learning best business practices within a corporate legal environment.

Essential Position Functions

· Play a pivotal role in the acquisition, disposition, financing and refinancing transactions related to the company’s portfolio.

· Assist in organizing and maintaining the transaction documents throughout the course of an acquisition, disposition, financing or refinance.

· Summarize and track critical contractual dates.

· Participate in Legal Department meetings.

· Entity Formation (including preparation of governing documents).

· Contract drafting and review (including interacting with various departments).

· Oversee governing documents and contracts library for the company (including analyzing and reviewing documentation and recommending solutions in a clear and concise manner).

Requirements

Education and Qualifications

Current Law Student.

Related experience/background/coursework/other indicia of interest in the field of real estate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Conscientious, self-starter with strong analytical, research and writing skills, and extremely detail oriented, eager to learn and sound business judgment.

Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with all legal team members and other employees, including interacting with senior and executive management.

Skilled at meeting deadlines under significant time pressure.

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work collaboratively and independently.

Ability to manage time and resources effectively and independently.

Strong verbal and written communication skills (including radical candor).

Highly ethical and responsive to colleagues and third parties.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while handling multiple competing tasks simultaneously to closure.

Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g., MS Office, etc.), is required.

Ability to discretely handle confidential information.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver’s license.

Copy of law school transcript (including cover letter, resume and writing sample).
