Help Build the Future of Soapy Joe's

Soapy Joe's is more than a car wash—we're one of San Diego's fastest-growing companies and a recognized leader in the customer experience industry. As we continue to expand, we're building the legal infrastructure needed to support a high-growth, multi-site organization.

We are seeking an experienced Legal Operations Specialist / Senior Paralegal to work closely with its General Counsel. This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of legal matters, keep work moving across teams, and help build practical processes for a growing business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support real estate matters, including commercial leases, site development and construction projects, or employment and HR matters, depending on your experience.
  • Manage legal requests and projects from intake through completion, including tracking next steps, deadlines and approvals and knowing when to escalate an issue to the General Counsel.
  • Prepare, review and coordinate contracts, NDAs, correspondence and other legal documents.
  • Assist with litigation, insurance claims and disputes by organizing records, coordinating with outside counsel and tracking developments.
  • Support corporate governance, including entity records, board materials, resolutions and consents.
  • Coordinate outside counsel engagements, invoices, budgets and matter updates.
  • Maintain legal templates, files and trackers, and improve processes that make the legal function more efficient.

What we’re looking for

  • At least five years of relevant experience as a senior paralegal, legal operations professional or in a similar legal support role.
  • Strong hands-on experience in at least one of the following: commercial real estate matters, particularly leases, development or construction; or employment and HR matters.
  • The judgment and organization to manage multiple assignments with limited day-to-day supervision, while raising legal or business decisions for review at the right time.
  • Strong drafting, communication and follow-through skills.
  • Comfort working with digital document systems and standard office tools. Experience with legal technology is helpful, but expertise in a particular platform is not required.
  • Residence in the United States. California residence is not required.

What Makes You Successful

You are someone who:

  • Loves creating structure and organization.
  • Has exceptional attention to detail.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Can manage multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of priorities.
  • Communicates professionally with executives, attorneys, and business stakeholders.
  • Takes initiative and works independently.
  • Learns quickly and adapts to new challenges.
  • Enjoys improving processes and solving problems.
  • Operates with discretion and maintains confidentiality.
  • Brings a positive, collaborative, and low-ego approach to teamwork.

Requirements

Required

Preferred

  • In-house legal department experience.
  • Paralegal Certificate, Bachelor's Degree, law degree, foreign law degree, or equivalent legal training.
  • Experience supporting board governance, entity management, or corporate secretarial functions.
  • Experience with legal billing systems, contract management software, or matter-management platforms.
  • Experience managing outside counsel relationships and legal budgets.
