Lighting Maintenance Inc. | Full-time hourly position

Lighting Maintenance Inc. (LMI) is hiring experienced lighting technicians to troubleshoot, repair and replace commercial lighting and illuminated signs. If your background is parking lot lighting, shopping center lighting, sign service or bucket-truck electrical service, we want to hear from you.

We need someone who can identify the cause of a lighting problem, make a sound repair and verify that the system works before leaving the site. Minimum five years of relevant experience required.

Locations and hourly base pay

Starting pay within the applicable range depends on relevant experience, demonstrated troubleshooting ability and qualifications. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

What you will do

Troubleshoot, repair and replace LED fixtures, drivers, modules, power supplies and lighting controls.

Service shopping center and parking lot lights, pole lights, wall packs, canopy lights, floodlights and security lighting.

Diagnose lighting-circuit problems, including loss of power, tripping breakers, damaged wiring and faults in underground circuits. Use locating and test equipment to identify the cause and complete authorized repairs.

Service illuminated signs, LED signs, channel letters and sign cabinets. Perform neon sign troubleshooting and repairs within your qualifications and assigned duties.

Operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts safely at working heights up to 50 feet. Complete equipment inspections and follow electrical, fall-protection and work-area safety procedures.

Record the diagnosis, work performed and materials used; take job photos; communicate clearly with customers and dispatch; and verify completed repairs.

What you need

At least five years of hands-on commercial lighting maintenance, lighting service or closely related electrical and sign-service experience.

Strong working knowledge of LED lighting and the ability to diagnose driver, fixture, control, wiring and supply-power problems.

Previous bucket-truck experience and the ability to work safely at heights up to 50 feet.

Experience troubleshooting lighting circuits, including underground circuits, and using electrical meters, circuit tracers and fault-locating equipment.

Ability to read wiring diagrams, select appropriate replacement components and make repairs that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.

A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company vehicle requirements. Any additional driving credential must match the assigned vehicle.

Reliable attendance, clear customer communication and the ability to complete accurate electronic work orders.

Ability to perform the essential field duties, including outdoor work and use of ladders and aerial equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Neon sign service experience is strongly preferred. Experience with legacy fluorescent and HID lighting, lighting retrofits, photocells, timers and contactors is also valuable.

Electrical qualifications by state

Maryland: A current Maryland journeyperson or master electrician license is required for independent electrical service assignments. The position focuses on commercial lighting and sign service.

Virginia: An electrical trade license is preferred. Experienced lighting technicians without an individual Virginia electrical license may be considered for assignments performed under the required supervision of a licensed electrician.

Benefits

Medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage; paid holidays and paid time off; a 401(k) plan; employer-paid disability coverage; and employer-paid life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance. Benefits are subject to applicable plan and eligibility terms.

Apply

Email your resume or a brief summary of your relevant experience to [email protected]. Include your preferred work location, years of lighting-service experience, bucket-truck experience and any electrical licenses or certifications you hold.
