Job Description:

DXC Technology is looking for an experienced LTIS Technical Engineer to support the Land Training Information System Future Classroom programme.

This is a hands-on technical role supporting the delivery and implementation of end-user training infrastructure within a secure environment. You’ll work across hardware, software, networking and bespoke client systems, helping to deliver everything from changes to existing configurations through to complete new-site deployments.

If you have a strong IT support background, understand military environments and enjoy solving technical problems while working directly with customers, this could be a great opportunity.

Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, the successful candidate must be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including the applicable residency requirements for the role, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements where these are necessary to meet UK Government or contractual security obligations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver hardware, software and infrastructure projects, from configuration changes through to complete new-site installations.
  • Provide on-site implementation and technical support for end-user training systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across hardware, networks, operating systems and peripherals.
  • Support deployments, updates and technology roll-outs.
  • Work with complex bespoke systems, including training, audio/visual, networking and telephony solutions.
  • Use your understanding of network design and customer infrastructure to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Develop installation and escalation plans to support successful project delivery.
  • Work as part of a small team, making decisions on complex technical and business issues.
  • Communicate technical solutions clearly to customers and colleagues at different levels.
  • Deliver work in line with strict guidelines, standards and customer quality expectations.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally bring:

  • At least 3 years' experience within an IT support organisation.
  • Strong experience working with people at different levels within a military environment.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of network design and topology.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL incident management, including working to SLAs and keeping customers informed.
  • Hands-on experience delivering technology solutions on-site and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Experience researching and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Project delivery experience within environments governed by strict MoD guidelines and standards.
  • Demonstrable configuration management experience.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable technical knowledge

Experience or knowledge across some of the following would be advantageous:

  • LAN and WAN
  • Wi-Fi and 4G
  • Ethernet and Secure+ Ethernet
  • ADSL, FTTC and SOGEA
  • Core networks
  • Circuit mapping
  • VLANs

At DXC Technology, we believe strong connections and community are key to our success. Recruitment fraud is a scheme in which fictitious job opportunities are offered to job seekers typically through online services, such as false websites, or through unsolicited emails claiming to be from the company. These emails may request recipients to provide personal information or to make payments as part of their illegitimate recruiting process. DXC does not make offers of employment via social media networks and DXC never asks for any money or payments from applicants at any point in the recruitment process, nor ask a job seeker to purchase IT or other equipment on our behalf.
