Machine Shop Helper / General Laborer

Description

We're looking for a dependable Shop Helper / General Laborer to assist with everyday tasks in our machine shop in Barboursville. This is a hands-on position focused on keeping the shop clean, safe, and organized while providing general support to machinists and other shop employees. You'll work around both manual and CNC machining equipment but won't be responsible for operating or setting up machines.

No machining experience is required.

What You'll Do

• •Sweep, mop, and clean shop floors, walkways, and work areas.
• •Clean machines, workstations, and surrounding areas as directed.
• •Empty trash containers and collect scrap materials and general shop debris.
• •Clean up metal shavings and machining chips using appropriate tools and procedures.
• •Help keep scrap bins, waste collection areas, and storage spaces clean and organized.
• •Organize tools, parts, materials, and shop supplies.
• •Restock shop towels, cleaning supplies, and other routine shop consumables.
• •Move, stage, and deliver parts, materials, and supplies between work areas as directed.
• •Assist machinists and other shop employees with basic, non-technical tasks.
• •Report spills, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns to shop leadership.
• •Follow shop safety procedures and perform other general labor and housekeeping duties as needed.

Position Details

This is a temporary, day-shift position with the potential to transition into a permanent role based on business needs and individual performance. Permanent employment is not guaranteed.

What We're Looking For

• •Dependable, punctual, and willing to perform a variety of hands-on tasks.
• •Comfortable working in an industrial environment around machinery and equipment.
• •Able to follow instructions, work safely, and complete assigned tasks.
• •Willing to perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and physical labor.
• •Able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
• •Able to work independently and assist other shop employees as needed.
• •Previous experience in manufacturing, machining, industrial services, warehouse work, or general labor is helpful but not required.
