Position Summary

Chandler Industries is seeking a Maintenance and Facilities Manager to lead our maintenance team and support a multi-shift precision manufacturing operation in Blaine, Minnesota. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for keeping CNC machinery, production equipment, buildings, utilities, and facility systems safe, reliable, and operating efficiently.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will combine technical troubleshooting with team leadership, preventive and predictive maintenance, and facility oversight. You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Safety to reduce downtime, improve equipment reliability, support equipment installations and facility improvements, and manage maintenance costs.

Job Requirements

  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance employees; prioritize work, establish clear expectations, and manage department performance.
  • Use Limble CMMS to plan, schedule, document, and oversee corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance for production equipment and facility systems.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair support for CNC machinery and electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, and automation systems.
  • Analyze downtime, recurring failures, and repair costs to address root causes and improve equipment uptime.
  • Coordinate equipment installation, relocation, rebuilding, and commissioning with Operations, Engineering, and outside technical resources.
  • Manage building, grounds, utility, and facility maintenance; coordinate contractors, landlords, vendors, and service providers.
  • Manage maintenance expenses, support budgeting, and maintain appropriate spare-parts and supply inventories.
  • Maintain equipment records, procedures, drawings, and service histories; support safety, regulatory, and quality requirements and related corrective actions.
  • Promote safe work practices, 5S, Lean, and continuous improvement. Overtime or off-shift response may be required for production support and emergency maintenance.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Associate degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant experience.
  • At least five years of progressive maintenance experience in precision machining, contract manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment, including experience leading employees, projects, or maintenance activities.
  • Strong working knowledge of CNC machinery, production equipment, controls, motors, and automation, with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and equipment drawings.
  • Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and total productive maintenance principles and applicable building, safety, and environmental requirements, including General Industry OSHA regulations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve complex technical problems and respond effectively to urgent equipment or facility issues.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, budgets, vendors, contractors, inventories, and maintenance documentation.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently, develop a team, and collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and computerized systems for maintenance records and parts purchasing.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • This position requires access to information or hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by ITAR: U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, political asylees, or refugees.

Preferred or helpful

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, operations, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and CNC controls systems, including Fanuc controls.
  • Electrician license or other relevant trade or technical certification.
  • CNC machinery repair training or certifications, including experience with Haas, Matsuura, Cincinnati, Robo Drill, Okuma, Fadal, Mori Seiki, Makino, or Doosan equipment.
  • Experience with capital equipment installations, facility improvement projects, maintenance management systems, and equipment reliability metrics.
