The starting wage for this role is $27.00/hour with monthly incentive bonus opportunities. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transfer tools, parts, equipment and supplies to and from work stations and other areas.
  • Clean or lubricate vehicles, machinery, equipment, instruments, tools, work areas and other objects using hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment.
  • Examine and test machinery, equipment, components and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning.
  • Adjust, maintain and repair tools, equipment and machines.
  • Install or replace machinery, equipment, new and/or replacement parts, instruments using hand or power tools.
  • Tend and observe equipment and machinery to verify efficient and safe operation.
  • Hold or supply tools, parts, equipment, and supplies for other workers.
  • Position vehicles, machinery, equipment, physical structures and other objects for assembly or installation, using hand tools, power tools and moving equipment.
  • Disassemble broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassemble equipment when repairs are complete.
  • Apply protective materials to equipment, components, and parts to prevent defects and corrosion.
  • Assemble and maintain physical structures using hand or power tools.
  • Order new parts to maintain inventory.
  • Prepare work stations for use by mechanics and repairers.
  • Complete regular equipment inspection rounds to monitor the proper operation of support equipment.
  • Read and write Safe Job Procedures, Unfamiliar Tasks, and Hazard Identification documents.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to fluctuation in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Strong decision making skills to determine the level of hazard, proper PPE and job planning to perform a task safely.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Strong communication skills; Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other programs.
  • Ability to write, follow detailed work instructions and give feedback in a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Prior forklift experience or willing to obtain an OREGON STEEL MILLS forklift certification.
  • Skid steer (Bobcat) experience or willing to obtain an OREGON STEEL MILLS bobcat certification.
  • Man lift experience or willing to obtain an OREGON STEEL MILLS man lift certification.
  • Be able to work at heights in a man lift, on ladders or elevated platforms.
  • Able to enter a confined space after proper permitting has been completed.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged physical exertions including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas.
