DIT-MCO International , a trusted name in wire harness testing and aerospace innovation for over 75 years, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance & Metal Shop Associate to join our team. This role performs maintenance/metal shop production and is responsible for general facility maintenance, routine preventive maintenance, and basic building repairs, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility needs. Develop and maintain an organized database for tracking PM schedules, internal and external maintenance and repair history, replacement parts, shop supplies, and tools to support efficient maintenance and operations. Provide support across the metal shop function.

Job Summary
Performs metal shop production and general facility maintenance to support safe and efficient operations. Fabricates and finishes metal components using metal shop machinery, tools, blueprints, and work instructions. Performs routine preventive maintenance and basic building repairs, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility needs. Creates and maintains a maintenance ticketing/work order system to track maintenance requests, repairs, and disposition. Identifies work requiring outside contractors and assists with safety inspections, spare parts management, and other facility maintenance needs.
Primary Duties
- Perform metal fabrication using saws, shears, press brakes, punches, grinders, sanders, and other metal shop equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders to determine work requirements and material needs.
- Prepare, fabricate, finish, and inspect metal parts according to specifications and quality requirements.
- Perform welding, spot welding, machining, painting, and powder coating as trained and assigned.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on designated production, metal shop, and facility equipment.
- Create and maintain a maintenance ticketing/work order system to track maintenance requests, repairs, and disposition.
- Perform basic facility maintenance, including minor electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, DI water system, furniture, and general building repairs; identify work requiring a qualified outside contractor.
- Monitor applicator wear and tear and maintain appropriate spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Perform routine facility safety checks, including monthly fire extinguisher inspections and first aid kit inspections/restocking.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, materials, and completed work.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all applicable safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Perform other metal shop, maintenance, and facility duties as operational needs require.
- Work Environment
- Good or corrected vision and the ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to lift, bend, walk, and sit or stand for extended periods.
- Mobility and manual dexterity sufficient to inspect, repair, and maintain building systems and equipment.
- Ability to safely work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined or restricted spaces when necessary.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and respond effectively to emergency situations.
Requirements
Education & Experience
High school degree or GED
Technical, vocational, or trade school training in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, machining, metal fabrication, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two years’ experience operating metal fabrication equipment such as shears, press brakes, punches, grinders, sanders, saws, or similar equipment.
Experience performing preventive maintenance and basic facility repairs.
Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve facility and equipment issues.
Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, compressed air, and general building maintenance.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond to changing business needs.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, quality, and efficiency.
The ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and confidentially.
Proficient in both independent work and collaborative team environments.
The ability to be self-motivated and manage time and projects effectively.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
