We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join our team at Carmichael Mine. This is a permanent FIFO opportunity providing leadership and support to our maintenance team while overseeing the safe and efficient maintenance of a world class Caterpillar fleet.

With a family friendly 7 on 7 off day shift only roster , paid FIFO from Rockhampton or Townsville and the opportunity to work on a modern fleet at a long life coal operation, this role offers the perfect balance between career progression and lifestyle.

What you'll be doing

As a Mechanical Supervisor at Hastings Deering, you will:

• •Lead and develop your team – provide leadership coaching and support to tradespeople and contractors while fostering a high performing team culture.
• •Drive safety performance – maintain strong safety standards ensuring all maintenance activities meet site and company requirements.
• •Deliver maintenance outcomes – oversee planned and breakdown maintenance activities to ensure equipment availability and reliability targets are achieved.
• •Manage major repairs – coordinate resources and work scopes to ensure repairs are completed safely on time and to quality standards.
• •Improve operational performance – identify opportunities to increase efficiency reliability and continuous improvement across the workshop.
• •Build workforce capability – mentor team members and support ongoing training and development initiatives.

What you'll need:

A successful teammate will have experience in:

Trade qualifications that matter – relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification.

Leadership experience – previous experience leading maintenance teams within mining heavy earthmoving or a related industry.

Technical expertise – strong knowledge of Caterpillar equipment maintenance practices and repair methodologies.

Safety first mindset – demonstrated commitment to maintaining high workplace health and safety standards.

Strong communicator – ability to communicate effectively with frontline teams operational stakeholders and customers.

Continuous improvement focus – committed to driving reliability efficiency and quality outcomes across the maintenance function.
