About the Role

• Engineering Team Lead to own the development, maintenance, and continuous evolution of our business applications Hong Kong Business Unit. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you will lead a small engineering team while personally contributing across the full stack — from back-end services and databases through to front-end interfaces and cloud infrastructure.
• What sets this role apart is our commitment to AI-native engineering: we expect the team to leverage large language models, code-generation assistants, and intelligent automation to accelerate delivery, and improve security & quality. At the same time, we operate in a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate knows how to harness AI for speed without sacrificing governance, accountability, or compliance — and can embed appropriate guardrails (human-in-the-loop reviews, explainability, audit trails, bias monitoring) into everything the team builds. Technical Leadership & People Management

• •Lead and mentor a small engineering team (3–6 engineers), setting technical direction, conducting code reviews, and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• •Plan sprints, allocate work, track delivery milestones, and report progress to stakeholders.
• •Manage delivery progress, dependencies, and risks.
• •Champion AI-assisted development Tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Dify.ai) while establishing clear guardrails for when and how AI-generated code is reviewed, tested, and approved.

Full-Stack Development

• •Partner with business application SMEs (Buy, Service, Claim, Customer Engagement, Collection & Payment, Reporting) to translate insurance-domain requirements into technical solutions.
• •Back-end: Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices primarily in Java (Spring Boot) and Python (FastAPI / Flask).
• •Front-end: Develop responsive, maintainable browser-based interfaces using JavaScript / TypeScript with modern frameworks (React/Vue).
• •Data layer: Write complex SQL queries, manage schema migrations, optimise query performance, and work with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server).
• •AI/ML integration: Embed AI capabilities — LLM-powered features, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, intelligent document processing, underwriting decision-support tools — directly into business applications.
• •Maintain comprehensive documentation (architecture decision records, API specs, runbooks).

Cloud & DevOps/AIOps

• •Architect, deploy, and operate applications on cloud infrastructure (Azure or AliCloud), favouring managed services wherever practical (e.g., RDS/Aurora, ECS/EKS, Lambda/Cloud Functions, managed API gateways, managed AI/ML services).
• •Own the CI/CD pipeline (BitBucket), and containerization (Kubernetes).
• •Manage environments (dev, staging, prod) and capacity planning.
