Are you passionate about strengthening financial controls and driving measurable improvements in how Amazon manages returns and recommerce? We are looking for a Finance Manager to lead a team of finance professionals within our Returns and Recommerce Finance organization. In this role, you will build a culture of controllership, develop financial plans and reporting that reduce waste and streamline processes, and leverage AI tools to scale your team's impact. You will partner closely with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and regional operations leadership to improve financial rigor across the business — making this a pivotal time to join as we invest in enhanced controls and process optimization.
- Key job responsibilities
- - Lead and develop a team of early-career finance professionals, setting priorities, coaching on financial analysis techniques, and building a strong controllership culture across the group.
- - Design and maintain financial models, plans, and reporting packages that give leadership clear visibility into business performance, headcount strategy, and cost-reduction opportunities.
- - Partner with FP&A and regional operations leadership to align financial and operational analyses, challenge assumptions, and deliver recommendations that drive waste reduction and process improvements.
- - Identify opportunities to automate and simplify finance workflows — including evaluating and scaling AI tools — to increase accuracy, reduce manual effort, and improve turnaround times.
- - Own data integrity and audit mechanisms for your team's deliverables, ensuring reporting is scalable, accurate, and supports data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- A day in the life
- You start your morning reviewing your team's latest financial reports and coaching a team member through a variance analysis. Mid-morning, you join a working session with FP&A partners to align on headcount planning assumptions for the upcoming quarter. After lunch, you evaluate an AI-driven automation prototype your team is piloting to accelerate month-end close reporting. Later, you connect with regional operations leaders to walk through cost-reduction recommendations your team has prepared, fielding questions and refining the narrative before it reaches senior leadership.
- About the team
- The Returns and Recommerce Finance team is responsible for the financial strategy and controllership behind Amazon's returns operations. We partner with FP&A and regional operations leadership to strengthen financial controls, reduce waste, and optimize processes at scale. This is a collaborative, all-finance team where you will have the opportunity to grow into larger roles by taking on strategic initiatives and cross-functional workstreams across the broader organization.
Basic qualifications

Preferred qualifications
- - 6+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience
- - 3+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience
- - Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making
- - MBA
