Job description
Meet our Team
We are the Identity and Access Management team, part of Cybersecurity at Hitachi Vantara, and we are passionate advocates of cybersecurity! We maintain key tools, processes, and capabilities across our corporate environment that ensure the proper identity and access management of our employees, vendors, customers, partners, applications, and non-human identities.
We are out-of-the-box thinkers, innovators, and team players. We constantly seek new and better ways of doing things. We need highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team who have positive attitudes, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to be part of something special. We strive for nothing less than the very best IAM program!
What you’ll be doing
As the Manager, IAM Quality & Operations , you will lead a global team responsible for the quality, reliability, and day-to-day operational health of our critical Identity and Access Management platforms and capabilities.
This is much more than a traditional operations role. Your team will be the group that ensures IAM works the way it is supposed to work, every day. You will establish the operational discipline that keeps our identity platforms dependable, validate that new and existing capabilities function as designed, operate key cybersecurity controls, identify weaknesses before they become incidents, and continuously improve how IAM services are delivered.
You will work across IAM architecture, engineering, development, governance, Cybersecurity, and IT to turn new capabilities into sustainable production services. You will also bring an operational perspective into solution design, ensuring supportability, monitoring, testing, controls, documentation, and operational readiness are built in rather than addressed after deployment.
This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys building high-performing teams, solving complex operational problems, creating order from complexity, and raising the standard for how critical cybersecurity services are operated globally.
Your tasks will also include:
- Leading a global IAM Quality & Operations team responsible for the health, availability, supportability, and operational effectiveness of critical IAM platforms and services.
- Establishing clear standards, ownership, metrics, procedures, and operating rhythms for the ongoing management of IAM services.
- Ensuring production IAM platforms, integrations, processes, scheduled activities, and automations are monitored, maintained, and operating as expected.
- Building a strong IAM quality practice , including functional validation, regression testing, operational acceptance, control testing, and production-readiness validation for new and changed capabilities.
- Owning the execution and evidence of designated IAM cybersecurity and functional controls, ensuring controls operate consistently and exceptions or failures are identified and remediated.
- Leading incident, problem, and operational issue management for IAM services, including root-cause analysis, corrective actions, lessons learned, and prevention of recurring issues.
- Partnering with IAM engineering, development, and architecture teams to ensure new solutions transition successfully into production with appropriate documentation, monitoring, support models, testing, and operational readiness.
- Using automation, telemetry, dashboards, and data to identify emerging issues, reduce manual operational effort, improve service reliability, and measure the effectiveness of IAM services.
- Driving continuous improvement across IAM operations by challenging inefficient processes, eliminating recurring problems, improving controls, and identifying opportunities for automation and simplification.
- Developing team members, establishing clear accountability, building technical depth, and creating a culture where quality, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement are expected.
What you bring to the team
- Significant experience leading cybersecurity, Identity and Access Management, technology operations, platform operations, quality engineering, or other complex enterprise technology teams.
- Strong understanding of IAM concepts including authentication, authorization, SSO, MFA, identity lifecycle management, access governance, privileged access, roles, permissions, and entitlement management.
- Experience operating enterprise IAM technologies such as Okta, Auth0, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, identity governance, privileged access management, directories, and related identity services.
- Demonstrated experience building reliable operational practices for business-critical technology platforms, including monitoring, incident and problem management, change management, service readiness, operational metrics, and continuous improvement.
- Experience developing or operating cybersecurity controls and ensuring controls are repeatable, measurable, properly evidenced, and effective.
- Strong understanding of software and platform quality practices, including functional testing, regression testing, acceptance criteria, validation, release readiness, and production verification.
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to manage, develop, and motivate team members working across countries, cultures, and time zones.
- An automation-first mindset and a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to reduce manual work, prevent recurring issues, and improve operational reliability through technology.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm during critical situations, make sound decisions, establish priorities, and communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and cybersecurity leadership.
